I've been watching MDI for a few years now. You'll notice that show is from 2005. They still are having trouble with the performance of the car falling far short of the hype. I hope they work out the bugs soon and start selling them in the US.

I'm currently building the GEET. I'm also going to build the hydrogen cell as designed by George Wiseman at Eagle Research. The SAE reported years ago that adding a bit of hydroxy,, or whatever you want to call it will make a big difference in milage.
The Scorpion car and the Ale get huge improvements from HHO.
The whole trick with hydrogen seems to be; produce monatomic H and O rather than diatomic. Bob Boyce's power supply seems to work very well for this.

The planners had better learn that if they don't design mass transit people are comfortable on, they won't ride it no matter what.

Gas use is already down this year.
Last study I heard can't find a reason for price rises, including china's rising consumption and artificial shortages caused by california's weird gas formulations and the deliberate lack of new refineries.
Looks like we're being had yet again.
I dismiss that as just more shit written by a newspaper journalist who knows nothing about what he's talking about.
I'm sure gas prices affect cruising activity, but that's not the whole picture. It's been dying or dead for a long time already. When I was younger, my buddies and I would have gone cruising at today's gas prices anyway... we probably would have just piled another person or two in each car and split the gas. Cars were everything.
Cruising isn't what it once was because kids (and most adults) aren't all about cars anymore. They're all about HAVING a car, sure, but they aren't gearheads that turn wrenches all the time, the car is just an appliance. There are a lot of other things to do now that there didn't used to be. Not many kids now have a clue about setting valve lash every weekend in that '66 Chevelle SS396 'cuz you happened to have the 375-horse 396 with solid lifters instead of the common hydraulic-lifter 325-horse 396.
As mentioned a few times on here, I still have two of my old cruisers, a '79 Trans Am and a '55 Chevy Bel Air, one of the all-time great Saturday night cruisers, and I can afford to put gas in them. In the last ten years, the '55 has been out only a few times a year at most, the Trans Am not at all. There's nowhere to go. There is Friday and Saturday evening "cruise-in" activity at a few places but it's all people who arrive, park, and go home by 7 or 8. Trunks now carry lawn chairs instead of tools. Girls are absent or they are wives being dragged along.
The death of cruising isn't about the goddamm gas. Hell, now I cruise at BM where I have a pretty fuel-efficient vehicle but have to haul it 1500 miles round-trip behind a 6-MPG truck. The guys with the real nice hot rods can easily afford gas. It's just a cultural change.

The Peterbilt I drive gets 7mpg...My company is testing out Bio Diesel, and an experimental engine, that burns off it's own emissions. Still seems like a waste, until you consider the amount of shit we haul for you consumers..I average 78,000 lbs gvw per trip. 2000 lbs under the maximum.

They make one for trucks. They're kinda pricy, but an OTR truck goes through a lot of fuel. Your 7 mpg is better than a lot of Lincolns and Broncos that weigh a whole lot less. The empty on a hydrogen tank truck is 78,500. That's why there will never be a hydrogen distribition system. The atom is just too small.
Trucks and nice weather are 2 things that we don't pay any attention to. When they have problems, they take center stage.

Ill mention it to our shop. Some trucks now, are equipped with hydrogen cells behind the Diesel tank. I think, with fuel prices as high as they are..over 5 for diesel, more truck companies will start looking at these options. Maybe if we had built our freeways like the autobahn, we could have heavier trucks on the road..don't think your average 4 wheel driver is prepared for that though.
Here in WA we're allowed to go 105,500 pounds.
The Peterbilt I drive is running on biodiesel now, primarily because it's available here a bit cheaper than 100% diesel. I haven't checked the mileage.
One of the guys at work built a hydrogen generator for his Toyota Land Cruiser and is claiming a 4 MPG improvement. I'm thinking of making one for my RV for the BM trip.

Tom, the ones that I saw just used a normal 40 ft trailer with a convertor dolly,,,, and another trailer,,,and another dolly,,, and another trailer. Dunno about the license. They don't stop real well and are limited to 90 kmh. Naturally, they don't obey. I hear that the super singles give .5% better mileage,,,dunno.

Some of the units are pretty flimsy and don't give much improvement. There is a fixed limit between joules of electric energy and hydrogen output. There seem to be some great systems for avoiding the "Faradic" limit by using pulsed current.
Zigouras racing has a boat [reportedly] that just has a water tank,,, no fuel tank. Stan Meyers had a dunebuggy that ran on just water,,, he's dead.
There is a new vid on U-Tube by a guy who seems to have a good understanding on building a circuit that would continually tune to the natural resonance of the water cell.
You have to watch the whole thing because he changes horses mid-stream. I'm building a 3,000 liter per hour hydrogen cell from Eagle Research. It just dawned on me that the power supply that I'm building could easily kill me. It's 50 A, 240 VAC with a FUBAR and a voltage doubler. I'd like to get the power down to a non-lethal level.

Super singles are showing up more and more; they improve fuel mileage because they weigh less and because they offer less rolling resistance than duals since you are only flexing two sidewalls per tire rather than four per duallie pair they replace. For that reason they also give the truck a nicer ride.
Here in WA we're getting our biodiesel for LESS than regular diesel, right now the bio is $4.92. That's why we're using it. I'm in the rock business, trucks are just a necessity, we don't try to make money with them (good thing!!), but we're still trying to cut costs.

My little, crappy, 15-year-old Saturn gets about 32 miles to the gallon. It helps that it's a manual, and I schooled myself on how to drive a manual for optimal fuel efficiency. It would be the perfect car to take out to the playa except some asshat broke into it not long ago, breaking out one of the small windows in the backseat. They got nothing (HELLO! It's a 15-year-old Saturn! Why would I be rockin a nice car stereo with subwoofers?) but I got a $300 problem that I can't afford to fix pre-burn. It's hot as hell right now, and I'll fix it before the weather goes to shit here, but in the meantime I'm left figuring out which one of my campmates to carpool with on Sunday night so that I don't wind up with a car full of dust.
On an extra shitty note, the fucking car was unlocked... they just didn't check. And I know it wasn't random vandalism because five other cars in my apartment complex got busted into that night, but they all had shit worth stealing in them.

Yeah, I went to the wrecking yard the day it happened. No luck on finding the size and type I needed. I may make another run out there next week just to check again. I have a general idea of how to replace the glass, but my stupid car requires that I remove the entire door and take it apart just to put the new window in, so it's going to be a chore. That is me in the avatar, but all the boys I know are pretty well aware of my lesbian leanings, so looks aren't gonna get me anywhere with them. Maybe I can find some big scary lesbians to do it for me...

Super singles are nice, but there are some drawbacks.
You have less sidewall, so the ride is less comfortable. Our tractors felt like the ass end would wobble side to side and there is no redundency when you blow one.
Oh... well yeah, it seems not many girls straight or lez are gearheads... but what the hell, no one taught me to replace glass. If it's in the rear door, it's rare that the door has to come off, just the inside panels. Usually there's a few phillips screws holding some stuff and some push-in clips that hold the rest; you just have to pry them up with something flat and wide so you don't tear up the panel or the clip.
Roll-up windows usually have a few small nuts and bolts on a track at the bottom... the trick is figuring out the right angle to get the old glass out (unless it's broken!) and wiggle the new one in.
It's better than shitting out $300!
I guess you're probably handicapped a bit being in a small town where used parts aren't so readily available... also check "auto parts" on craigslist for someone parting out a similar car.
