Black Rock Beacon 2008 -- We're back!

Post by Mitch » Sun Jul 06, 2008 5:48 pm

Greetings Burners,

The Black Rock Beacon is gearing up for its fourth year on the Playa, offering Black Rock City our annual compendium of news, views, and classic porcine trivia. We're a little late getting started this year for various reasons <cue>, but we're getting ourselves in gear with just under two months to go.

As in all years, we could use some help from the community in terms of your heartfelt contributions to our meager treasury and also to the paper itself.

Specifically, we like to talk to as many of the major artists as we can and have them tell us something about their projects. We run these articles all week long, with preliminary versions written off the Playa and then we go out and see the piece and make sure it's what they told us it would be -- and that it's there!

There's also plenty of room for the stuff people like to shout about here -- Paul Addis, right or wrong? Bacon for breakfast, lunch and dinner: not enough?" -- stuff like that. Some of this has to be researched pre-Playa and some of it wants to be on our website in the coming weeks so we're looking for volunteers now.

We're serious enough that you don't get to write about your own art project or how great your theme camp is, but lighthearted enough that hardly nothing is off limits. (Except OUR bacon).

Oh, did I mention we're partial to bacon?

The Black Rock Beacon is totally Burner supported, with no aid from the Burning Man Organization. Monetary contributions are tax-deducible. Help with writing, editing and producing the paper will drastically improve your karma.

We're on Tribe.net here: theblackrockbeacon.tribe.net

and our website, with that all-important PayPal link is here: www.blackrockbeacon.org

PDFs from our freshman, sophomore and junior years are available on our site.
