My first theme camp!! And one with giant toys!! How exciting! And one that's rated in the top 10! (oh, c'mon, yeah, I made it up... but I've heard good things!!) I think I'm goin a little nuts-o with anticipation already.

I got my ride settled today so I'm in like Flynn!! Be there on Sunday after all - YAY!! Now if my darn ticket would arrive I could breathe easier...

So much to do still... and now, with my cool ride I can bring more stuff... bigger, better muwahaaahaaahaahaaaaa - hee hee hee

Welcome aboard Cassidy! Great to have some nice new enthusiastic friends joining us on the playa! Last year we had a few people none of us had ever met join our camp after some emailing back and forth and it was really fun getting to know them! We have some more new faces this year and it's gonna rock!! Good to have you!!!!

So the game is packed up and has arrived at its next stop back in LA for the final work like painting and electronics. It was about 103 today in Joshua Tree and took us a bit of time to get it dismantled and packed into the tiny trailer I rented. Voila!

Nearly all the actual construction is done though! Yay!

We are close to capacity, but it seems we could fit one or two more able bodies willing to commit to early arrival and the work involved in our setup and teardown. If we get the full number of early arrival passes we requested, which we will know on Wednesday, then I think we can handle a couple more folks. It would be really helpful if one of those people was willing to drive our 24' truck from Los Angeles to BRC and back. We can work out the driving in lieu of our camp fees if that makes a difference for someone. We're a fun little group with a great camp and nice energy located right on the 3:00 portal. We are very likely on the corner of 3:00 and A where we were last year. What we ask of members is a willingness to be a full part of the camp and not just a guest pitching their tent in the corner. This involves setting it up for two days on Sat and Sun before BRC opens and then tearing it all down and packing it away on Sunday after the burn. If you live in the LA area and are looking for a camp to join and think this sounds interesting at all, please drop me a note. We will be loading the truck on Thurs 8/21 and caravan driving up to Reno on Friday 8/22, where we get hotel rooms to crash until the early hours. Goal is to be at the Gate at 8:00am Saturday. Home again... And I miss you all terribly already! I had an amazing time this year and it really had more to do with all of the people I have come to know than with all of the "stuff" we tried (and mostly succeeded) to pull off.

The dust storms were inconvenient at best, but our camp weathered them all fine and we went on with our days in spite of them.

We served about 250 gallons of ice tea and lemonade.

Rock Yer Balls was played by (my guess) several hundred people and watched by a thousand or two more. I hope you enjoyed it if you got the chance.

I was too pooped by Monday to even deal with the Fling of Destiny this year and its barn got erected and then sat empty all week... only a few people seemed to notice... sorry. We eventually hung a hammock in it.

I have a 24' truck and a 16' trailer full of stuff waiting for me to go thru and store and distribute it all tomorrow, so I'm not really done yet. I feel pretty done though...

My undying gratitude to BadDog of Apokiliptika for repairing the new game, not once, but twice! It got broken even before the gates opened and it was a very depressing night wondering if we would even have a game. Bad Dog was able to execute welding repairs that got the game thru the entire week with only one further "mishap", which he also quickly fixed.

Thanks to everyone who came by and made the Destiny Lounge a hangout, for a few minutes or for an afternoon! Everyone in our camp I've talked to had a great time playing hosts and keeping it going! Much silliness and frivolity was had by all!

And a huge thanks to all my friends here on eplaya, many more of whom I was finally able to meet and get to know a bit more! I think that made all the difference in the world for my trip to the playa!

Now... what to do for next year....
