earthships (free energy, light, heat...)

If anyone is serious about getting out of the rat race- inflation and into self sustainable homes ( solar, water recycled 4 times, growing own food in indoor botanicals), please contact me
thanks

I've actually seen those"Earthship" houses. They're pretty cool. Thing is, people build them themselves. Why would they contact you?

gee, Badger, maybe they need someone with a really hard head to do the earth ramming.

Just one note, these houses are only good in dry climates. (That's why the pics always come from arizona.) Too much rain and your free house washes away.

I do all my own ramming. ;)

I see them in dry climates because the land is cheap out there. Seriously, have you seen them? They're not just some mud hut. They're pretty neat. I wouldn't mind owning one. Sadly they are not free by a long shot. :)

cant you finish them off with a stucco or adobe type of finish to prevent disappearing in the rain?

If you guys are talking about rammed earth houses, they are supposed to have some lime mixed in with the soil.
The mix is crucial.

They say only the very poor and the rich have this type of housing.
A lot of weight to shift around.

I think salvaged lumber is more cost effective if you are willing to do that much work.
I like steel.

Cool idea if you have the time and land.

I saw a really cool documentary on the Sundance channel about earthships called "Garbage Warrior". Really interesting stuff.
