Try a web search under [ circus tent stakes ] ?

Or have a welding shop make what you need.

They are actually Jersey Barrier pins. Ask any of your County Fed, or State DOT workers for some spares.

They look like 30" safety nails. Perfect stakes for the ground.

I did do a web search on tent stakes and other such things as Circus stakes etc... Before I posted- couldn't find anything but regular tent stakes sooooooooo if you find a web site that has these sort of things on it-like 3 foot circus tent anchors stakes with hook about 3/4 of the way up-

Scroll to the bottom of the page.

We are planning on driving them all the way into the ground... and have our tent guy ropes come up from the dirt...

Make sure you think about a way to remove your stakes. VERY hard to remove a stake that has been driven all the way into the ground. A GOOD pair of "vise grips" work well. Clamp on 1 or better yet 2 and twist and lift. 8) 8) 8)

you can also weld short lengths of chain a few inches below the top, use the top to hit and drive it in, flush or a little below ground level, and, tie to the chain sticking out of the ground,,,,,,no sharp metal dangers, and, then, use your car jack or pry bar and wood block to pull them out by the chain when you're done......
I'm gonna make some for my stuff.....probably use 3/8" chain, maybe a foot or so, on a 2'-1/2 inch rebar stake......
does anyone have a general idea how long the stake should be for that ground? 18 inches, 2 feet, ?.......
thanks

For my camp using costco carports for the last 9 years, I have used anywhere from 2'-3' long rebar/concrete form stakes. I have never gone deeper than 12" into the Playa. I also have never used guy ropes but rather drive the stake right next to the carport leg and use GOOD duct tape to secure. Never had a problem. Don't mean I won't but it's working super for me. And don't forget the "vise grips" ALso, a 3-4 pound short handle hammer works fine. If you don't bring one, just ask. It's the most used item during the first couple of days.

New Jersey barrier pins are 14.65 a piece - great quality but kind of pricy.

thanks ibdave.......
so, if you usually drive the stakes a foot in, I'd be ok with 18 inch stakes with said chain attached, and, driving them flush?
I'm just thinking it'd really be safer for people, not having the smashed, sharp end I hit with the hammer above ground, even covered with a beautiful tennis ball.....and, the chain would be easy to hook to the car jack or pry bar for removal.......

Also,
I'm a stone cutter by profession (tombstones, etc), so, have a veritable cornucopia of different size hammers.........
