BRC Gay Pride Parade: 08/27/08 Wednesday 8am

Since this years theme at Burning Man is the "American Dream" and since every city in America has a Gay Pride event, we should have one here too!, We at Moonbow Camp will be organizing and hosting the first ever Gay Pride Parade in Black Rock City on Wednesday August 27, 2008 to show that the Gay American Dream is alive and proud. Everyone is invited to join in!
We'll post our location later, but the lineup will start at 8am and Parade at 9pm. The Parade starts early to avoid the heat and dust storms, if any. We're inviting everyone to march and show the city that we're a integral part of the Burning Man experience too! This is not a political event, but to show ourselves and the city that we are here and queer! So Bring your Pride outfit/playawear, your Pride flag and ring necklace, or the drag outfit that you always wanted to wear, invite your campmates, friends and family, the entire GLBT community is invited, bring water and be prepared to show Your Pride!

Gay Pride March? At Burning Man? I really think you're just diluting what makes Burning Man different from Coachela....leave the Defaultia politics at home and bring something fresh and original. How about a Straight Pride March instead, filled with ironic, satirical displays of cliched hetero-culture.

Seriously, Gay Pride marches in my home town make me homesick for the Playa. Having one at Burning Man is like having a bible rally at the seminary. But, hey, its a free playa, have fun.

That would work. Straight Pride. Hell, does that mean Lez-beens and Gaymen will stand along the sidelines cheering? Black and white flags flying everywhere? And, um, couples in soap box derby pedalcars leading the pack, call it "Straights on Crates"...

Hehe... Lez-beens. We watched this Troma movie about inbred homicidal freaks and the local grocer called the slutty girls a "bunch of goddamn lez-beens!" It's a great word.

Since it is the American Dream, I'm going to be there yelling "faggots!" at the top of my lungs through my megaphone as the parade goes by....by the way I have to say I feel more comfortable being openly gay in BRC than I do in my hometown of San Francisco....it truly is home.....aww now I'm tearing up....

That's a parade I'd love to be in.

"pride" seems a little separatist for the playa.

Besides, gay parades have become big parties with TONS of marketing...

Moonbow Camp will be at Dart and 330.
The line up starts at 8am and the parade starts at 9am, we're getting a great response from the community and we're glad not to overlap with the Critical dicks or Critical tits parade or the World Naked bike run, which are on thursday and friday. We're having it early in the day because to minimize the heat and the dust storms, bring your Gay Playa wear and your Pride!
