Any runners at burning man?

Post by hellovelvet » Fri Jul 18, 2008 2:16 pm

I'm training for a marathon, and would like to continue my training while I'm at BM, so I plan on running early in the morning on wed, thurs, and saturday. Would anyone care to join me? I usually run about a 9 to 10 min mile, and plan on running about 5 miles on wed. and thu, and 14 on saturday.

I saw bunches of people following their same running routine as they did back in the real world. Always really early, like 6 to 7 in the morn

every year I promise myself I'm going to go running at burning man and every year I don't :( My great triumph last year was making it to Comfort and Joy's "Pink Gym" for all of 10 minutes of barbell curls..... Good luck!

Usually when someone is running at Burning Man it's wise to join them... especially if they look scared and keep saying "Oh SHIT!"

There is an official race at burningman mid week sometime... Check at center camp for info. Saw the end of it in 05' and 06'. I am not sure how long the run is. I think they run the entire fence line and then back to the man so it's got to be more than 6 miles.

Captain, you're on to something. A group of frantic panicked runners tearing through a congested area could have wonderful and devious reactions. i like it.

There's plenty of runners at Burning Man. They also call them mules.

Haha... I'm running Hood to Coast in portland the weekend before burning man. If I'm not to wiped I might like to try a race in the desert with you.

course... I'm not exactly going to bm for my health.

I have ran 25 marathons, my last being Boston this past April. I have trained for marathons at BRC. Let me give you some very good advice: Of course bring water with you, but make sure your route is in a figure 8, with your camp at the intersection. That way you will have access to more water. My mistake was not realizing how much more you need to drink on the playa versus most anywhere else. You don't want to run the risk of injury due to negligence. Come by Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro and I'll share more of my vast knowledge to whomever needs it.

I was hoping to keep up my marathon training too but was wondering what ppl usually do to clean themselves after going for a run...I don't bring a shower to BM & am really more of a water truck kind of guy, does anyone know what the earliest water truck run is every day?

I'm going to estimate about 8 miles. The trash fence is shaped like a pentagon around the city and it's about 2.6 miles across.
