Teenage Skateboarder

Post by ronitcorry » Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:04 pm

I have been to BM 4 times and my son, who is 14 would like to come too. Problem is all he does is skateboard. Does anyone know if there is a way to skate on the playa? Thanks.

Do they make off-road boards? Ive seen off-road inlines. Think weve allowed skateboards on or roller skate floor..but doubt he'd find it interesting unless he can freestyle to the music..that might be interesting now that I think about it..

other than that, not sure

and not sure if he'd appreciate our music playlist

Um, on the off chance that he gets distracted, maybe you try without the skateboard... You never know what he might discover on the playa.

I've seen several people with big-wheeled boards, and I even bring one, but we use it as a waterski.
It can be done, but he'll need one with really big wheels, and as a vet burner I'm sure you already know to try to get him to understand that it will suck and a bike will work SO much better!

I have seen a few smaller half pipes built, can't remember the camp names now, but there were at least 2 last year. I say bring the board just in case.

Our neighbors who did the "perspective" piece in deep playa had one of these. looked like a lot of fun.

All my best trips to the med-tent were immediately following trips to the halfpipes. They're usually out there.

In 2006 there was a camp at the end of the city (was that 10:30?) who built a halfpipe. Very much skaters. I don't know the camp name though.
