Bikes for the Playa
Hi Burners!
Someone gave me this info on eplaya, and I thought I'd pass it on again. I didn't want to fly with my bike and was looking for advice on how to pick one up in Reno.
Reno Sparks Kiwanis has a bike purchase program that helps out Burners. You can purchase a bike for $30, pick it up in Reno (they have long hours the week of the Burn.) You can also donate the bike back on your way out. They use the funds to fix up bikes and donate them to people in the Reno area. It's a great situation for people flying in and helps out the Reno community.

many thanks,

HI,
Anyone still looking for bikes? I have 2 bikes reserved and paid for in reno that I'm not using. They are adult bikes and 40/each. They would need to be picked up and dropped off in Reno.
Let me now

We need bikes for the playa
We're coming from Australia as burning man newbies. Because of budget constraints, we've booked on the green tortoise to get us to the playa. The only problem is we're not sure how we're going to get a bike to the playa. The green tortoise can take a bike for us if we get it to them early but this is going to be very difficult. Also because we're travellers, we'd have to leave any bikes we by in san francisco and we'd rather not be wasteful. So! Here are the questions:
1) is there any way we could borrow or rent bikes on the playa?
2) is there anywhere in san francisco we could donate our used bikes?
3) is there anywhere in san francisco we could rent bikes from?
4) does anyone have any other ideas?

4. Buy a cheapo bike at Wally World.
5. Bring blinky lights from home for it.
6. Buy assorted accoutrement from said Wally World to spiff it up a bit.

Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

You can borrow bikes at BM. They are kind of hard to find after about the 1st or 2nd day. You can't keep them for the whole week, you look for one when you're in need and leave it when you don't need it anymore.
I'm not from SF, so I don't know of any places to donates bikes, but I would guess that the internets would tell you.
