Paintball goggles
If you don't wear glasses, then paintball goggles work, too. They're smaller, easier to carry, but still seal around your eyes.
There may be more fashionable choices, but M-44 is the model of the military spec ones that will fit over most glasses, despite what American Science/Surplus says.

I tried swim goggles one year and they just fogged up instantly...
Airtight sounds best, but filtered air (on the M-44 foam it's foam sides and a mesh panel under the indirect vents) allows visibility and comfort.

The first pair look like cutting goggles..a little more money than cutting goggles, but you get the extra lenses. And Id use the strap.
Think I mentioned this before, but the vents really don't let in enough dust to be a problem. Just a small amount of residual sticks to the inner edges of the vents. Was my main concern since I wear contacts..but I loved them.
The padding doesn't seem to fully seal though..that might be a problem

These are the ones I'm looking at..

They've got vents on the side but having worn similar last year in sand storms, a bit of venting was no a problem.
My girlfriend wears contact lenses and had some trouble with the same goggles, so I think airtight is more suitable for those wearing them.[/s]

these look good...a solid seal all around. May sound silly to be discussing this..but if you were on the playa last year, youd know. Got myself an east german gas mask for this year, but may not be for everyone.

Sister and I were at the local Dairy Mart and they were selling Pug sunglasses and goggles. We bought 6 pair, each frame a different color(to better coordinate with outfits and costumes hee hee), dark and clear lense syles. They fold at the bridge of the nose so they can fit in a pocket etc... fit well with a nice, wide strap, conform to the face and were only 12.00$ a piece. Thanks for the warning about crap in the burn barrels, we'll watch out, I will just have to be extra careful about rebar I tend to be a tripper, usually I "trip on air" as I like to say!
ha ha hah
Anyway, they seem to be pretty functional, anyone else used this brand?

I just bought two pairs of the Solis 1000-7 glasses (including one with flames) from the Andy and Bax surplus store in Portland for $10/pr. They had the BRCPO postcard from 2005 stapled above the bin. On the next block, a sporting goods store had them for the same price in their "Burning Man Supplies" section.
Seems like if you're ordering from the internet they should be cheaper than that.

I'm trying out ski goggles, this year. A campmate, who is a ski instructor, highly recommended them. Finding a pair that fit over glasses, in July, took a bit of searching.
(I guess could have ordered them, online, and saved a few $ but I had to try them on, and at that point, they were in my hand...)

Goggles...
I bought mine here last year:
http://www.maximumeyewear.com/productfo ... ggles.html
Very comfortable..and I don't wear eyeglasses underneath. Soft on the face and wide enough that I had some good vision.
The thing is my campmates had lots of funky or interesting eyewear for this purpose...but they either didn't carry it or it was too uncomfortable to wear long.
I had invested in these and a pretty good lightweight charcoal filter bandana thingie so working in the whiteout was no problem at all for me.
I liked these so much I went back and bought another tinted pair (I bought clear last year) to add to them!
I am not affiliated with them in any way, but they seem like a small shop.

That's just brilliant. Especially the Mickey Mouse one would go really well with this year's theme.
While we're on the subject, does anyone have experience with gasmasks? My girlfriend gave me one for my birthday, and I intend on bringing it BM, but am not too sure whether it would be useful.
I mean, I won't be walking with that thing on my head all the time, but I think that carrying it around in case of a dust storm might just work.
Also, I already noticed that if I inhale deeply, there's a nasty smell. Could that be hazardous? I mean, gasmasks are supposed to keep toxic fumes out, right?
Oh well.
