Need FAKE DAYGLOW COLORED FUR

Post by Harpman » Tue Jul 29, 2008 9:18 am

I'm in the Los Angeles area, and I need some day glow colored fur, pink, orange, etc for my bike, person, camp, etc.
As we burners all know, this stuff has been a staple of BRC fashion for many years. What I need to know is;

Where the hell do I get the stuff?

Thanks

I don't know if there's a Fabric Depot down there, but in Oregon there's a great big one that sells all kinds of appropriate material pretty close to wholesale. My wife was buying glittery metallic nylon and I was buying gold braid for my coat last weekend, and one of the little old ladies was cutting bright-ass flourescent green cloth and some flourescent green and black sort of Fred Flinstone fur for some truck drriver looking dude.

Basically, you just need a fabric outlet. They always ask "What are you making?" Have fun with that.

I see it in the fabric department at Wal-Mart all the time.

I might be able to help you out. I make fur stuff. I can get bright pink striped with yellow for $12.00 a yard. I also have access to blue and teal and green. I can get it at a Hancocks here... PM me if you want to work something out for me to ship down to you. I'm in Sacramento. I also have pictures of fur since I use it to make stuff...

I really enjoy making things on-playa...Why not be a Playa Fur Trapper? You just need some glowsticks, a big mallet and a sewing kit. Those big animal heads are almost ALL blind spot, so they're easy to sneak up on.

I almost forgot! Look for bits of REAL DEER FUR dyed in all kinds of wild colors in the flyfishing section of your sporting goods retailer.( I use it on all sorts of art projects.) You can buy whitetail tails whole, (make great sporrans!) or patches of belly fur. For Extra Bonus Weirdness Value, some places will also sell you a "Hare's Mask" in a number of festive hues...and YES, it's just what you think it is.
They also have colored feathers and bits of synthetics for you PETA adherents.
