Personal Misters
Does anyone have any recommendation for personal water misters? What I'm looking for is a mister that I can set up in my tent to keep me cool while I'm napping during the day. It would have to be battery operated so I don't have to wake up and pump it up all the time.
I'd also like to get a hand-held mister that I can take out on the playa with me...I'm from the northwest and the heat just kills me.
Thanks.

They make one with a cover and a strap and a tube coming off of it.
That's the best I have seen except for fairly large ones mail order.
They hold pressure for a while and have an adjustment.
Those work for a while on pressure.
The larger ones seem to work on gravity and a fan.
I think spreading the mist out is more effective.

rigged up a 2 gallon weed sprayer to a canopy mister system(with about 7? spray nozzles). Attached misting line to spray wand(minus nozzle), and used a C-clamp...cause thats what I had.. to keep spray valve open.
Doesnt work forever, and have to pump every now and then...but is nice when hanging out.

anything worth doing is worth overdoing..

Spliced the mister system to the weed sprayer.. after removing the sprayer nozzle. Using the spray wand alone would work in a smaller space..can adjust the spray. Using the weed sprayer, got more water..and a longer spray time if you really pressurize it.gyre wrote:Did you use regular garden nozzles?
That may be the way to go.
For a small tent one nozzle might be enough.
You weren't getting too strong a spray for a small tent?
The smaller zipup ones will go for a while but run out of pressure eventually.
Some people put ice in them.
The nozzles came with the system...would normally attach to a garden hose. They produce a fine mist.

I wonder if you could glue a bicycle tube or tire valve to your standard garden pump-up type sprayer, then connect a small powered compressor to that.
Set the compressor to a low enough pressure that you're not going to break anything. although IIRC my sprayer had a relief valve that would open if I over-pumped it.
If there's no hysteresis on the compressor, you could maybe control it with an xmas light timer, or construct your own timer.
