Random army born tips

Post by VEECH » Tue Aug 05, 2008 1:06 am

-I'm a REALLY big fan of loose fitting Under Armor I used it exclusively in Iraq

-Goggles are a must for sand/dust storms

-Sip on water all the time

-Try not to skip meals, snack often

-Find something to keep the dust off your face

-REALLY RANDOM, if you find you need to wash clothing and you've got extra water dandruff shampoo (kills the odor) and a trash bag works great

I know most of this stuff has been beaten to death, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

Random Marine Born tips

Post by Funky Monkey Mech » Tue Aug 05, 2008 1:57 am

If you can't find gear, fuel, or parts, while in Iraq and really need something.... "Borrow it" from the army, navy, or air force cause those fuckers get all the good shit and have big enough budgets..... Marines, we get next to nothing and what we do get is usually old shit that the army, navy, or air force threw away and we fix and make due.....

Under Armor does melt to your skin if it catches fire.....

Urine kills athletes foot faster then anything i have ever bought in a store...

Aircraft engine pre-heaters make great tent heaters.... just make sure you keep them set to under 110 and don't let them run out of fuel, for the love of god make sure it does not run out of fuel!

contrary to popular beliefs it does get really fucking cold there in the winter....

Incoming Fire always has right of way..... so duck

You can make snowballs in hell... just have to be in the right region.....

when all else fails hit it with a hammer... claw hammer for slight adjustments.... sledgehammer for more coarse adjustments...

2 weeks of training in Kuwait can very quickly become 6 1/2 month deployment to Iraq. which is subject to many extensions....

take everything other branches say with a grain of salt....

Sorry had to be done.... **marine thing ** i have a lot more but eah.....

Murphy was a Marine Grunt..... or a Marine winger with bad luck :)

Let's see, what did I learn in the Navy?

Tylenol and orange juice before bed prevents that morning hangover, provided you're sober enough to find the frickin' tylenol and OJ.

You can blow an entire paycheck buying drinks from one end of Honcho-dori to the other from sundown to dawn. Direct deposit is your friend.

Dungarees are comfy, the Navy is nuts to go to BDUs.

A bitching sailor is a happy sailor, just don't bitch in front of the chief too often.

Bite the pillow, sound carries through those barracks cinderblock walls.

If you drink enough, everyone speaks the same language.

It is called a locker for a reason.

I'm an ET, I don't do buffers, especially not on mid-watch when you get me out of my rack. Oh, the buffer sparks when you plug it in? Safety hazard! Let me fix that. Snip. (That nearly got me in deep shit for insubordination when the RMC came upstairs and demanded I fix the buffer. I refused. I was feisty now and then.)

So does 90% of our costumes. It's never stopped us before. Seriously though, underarmor is good stuff for all the walking you'll do. Chafing is not fun.
