Fill it with Canadian coins?ygmir wrote:I think part of it for me is that not many carry money out there.....
will it drive them to go get some and leave it for others?
will some, devoid of funds and needing a few bucks see it as the end of the rainbow?
will a turd dump it on the ground and kick it all over?
Will some other turd take it all and leave an empty cup in it's place?
Perhaps a person needs gas, and, has a cool necklace, and feels like they need to leave it, and, perhaps a person sees that necklace and so loves it they'd trade their watch......
who knows, who cares, it seems, possibly, quite interesting, though........
thanks for the input.

Me, I'm still a little upset that my mother and sister went through my wallet and took out the cool euros and krona and shillings I had set aside for later use in artwork. Almost die and the people around you just mess up your life.

Here's a thought I had for the sign below the bucket 'o money:
Money:
(time, power, work, value)
IF you need,
take
IF you have,
share
If you can trade stuff
that's good too
Let's see what's here at the end.........
I'm hoping that's clear enough that folks might leave neat, or personal stuff, too........valuable in their eyes.......
any thoughts?

Quick, everyone watch The Magic Christian w/ Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr.
The effects of money on society ... If you want it, here it is, come and get it. Although I don't think you could get away with a massive pool of blood and urine; the health department would go ballistic. Unless you had a suitcase full of money for them too.

Thanks, I think I like the last one, too. Simple, to the point.
and, since it's "take it or leave it" I guess it'd not be stealing........
also, someone in genuine need won't care what form it's in......and, I'm hoping just the thought of a "bucket 'O money" will elicit reactions and dreams some folks have........they may leave something neat, or not........

For those earlier in the thread who were talking about gifting bandanas in dusts storms, check out this link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/36-pcs-Skull-Bandan ... m153.l1262
They're cheap as hell and they're kind of fun looking. I might grab a pack just to give away. Presents that fit easily into a Camelbak are always nice to have.

My "Gifts" are ready to go!

Virgins, if you don't know what these are for, you have some more reading to do.
Here's a hint: It would be very convenient if everyone in your camp had one, or something like it.

Are you going to be gifting orange juice again Figjam? Be careful not to let it sit in the sun--last year it tasted like pee!

I had someone holding a glass of lemon-lime Gatorade saying "You're sure this isn't...". "Next year pick a different colour".

That's one word I regret googling during breakfast.

Video games are giving kids unrealistic expectations on how many swords they can carry.
.
, but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.

They take up to 3 weeks to grow, so get them now if you're going to give them away on the playa.
*except for fishies, of course.

I had some dog tags made for my gift this year. Light weight and allowed me to make quite a few for the gifting:

Volunteer. Spend a little bit of each day helping out people that are making the city better. You don't have to have any affiliation or pre-arranged ....umm...arrangements. If you see something going on that you like, walk up and ask "You guys need a helper?" 99.9% of the time your support will be welcomed and utilized.
Helping someone set up a tent, find their way, fix a bike, etc. are the best gifts.
Offer to take a picture of someone(s) and take their email address, and then follow up and send the pic. Someone did that for me last year and it was absolutely beautiful. In the Burning Man doldrums of October I got a lovely pic of myself in my inbox out of the blue. That made my day.
If you see someone in your camp area hanging off by their self, ask them if they want to go out with you, or you and your friends, for an art run, night crawl, whatever. There are many people who come to the Burn alone and would like to have less alone time.
When you are buying coffee at Center Camp, or ice at Artica....pay an extra $10 and pay forward for the next couple people in line.
Physical gifts: A bag of candied ginger to offer folks a piece. It's really refreshing on the playa, and it settles the stomach if you meet those with hang-overs or upset tummies.
Lighters or cigarettes are always a great gift for those that are in need. If you can decorate lighters ahead of time, they become keep-sakes for the given.
I like that you are thinking about gifts, but I don't think you should sweat over physical transfers. Put your mind in the right place and you can make yourself the best gift we could ask for!

I bring 10 packs of clove cigarettes every burn. I lovvvvvvvve smoking them while *intoxicated.. and inevitably, there is someone downwind every 30 minutes or so that seeks me out and rushes up to me.. "Are you smoking a CLOVE??"
"Why.. yes.. would you like one?"
*eyes roll back in their head*
