West County Late Bloomer 1st Timer
So all who know me know I am a total dork. I am an experienced festival goer, concert goer, ren girl...first time burner. The whole community thing has me wondering where I am to pitch a tent? Should I find a camp and if so how? Which one? heck I have never RSVP'd before for a festival.
I really need some help on this one....anyone out there? :?:

DORK II
I have read, re-read and so on. Ice is great. I am bringing dry ice for my ice. But where to lay my head? just any ole place? I drive in and say....."uh I am here for BM, where do I go?" That just seems silly with all these people that know what they are doing and where they are going. I am not too worried about it but if I have a possibility to hang with like minded people where the heck would I find such a group?

You might want to try HushVille.
http://www.hushville.com
No dues, no work schedule, no generators, no amplified music.
It's great to know where I'm gonna park, and have a sense of community, and when I'm done with my walkabout at 3 or 4 in the morning, I know I will have peace when I finally lay my head down.
If you don't want to register with a camp, you can basically take your chances. Common issues are , having to move because you inadvertently parked in someone's reserved area, or, the next day you fins that the 24 Hour rave dome is being erected right next to your tent.
In any event , bring ear plugs.
See you in BRC!

To err is human. It takes a computer to really screw up.

Because this board is filled with veterans, its easy to construe that one needs to join a theme camp to have a great time.
Not true.
On top of having all expectations turned on your ear, the last thing I would want to worry about as a first-timer is the added stress of finding/joining a theme camp.
Instead, I would simply ask the Greeters at the front gate (they stop every car and make sure you've got your water and your head on straight) and ask where the most open camping is. They'll give you some directions, or not, and then you'll be on your own to find a spot.
It's just that simple. Park. Set up your tent. Set up your shade/lean-to, unpack, check for MOOP, lock your car and then get out and explore! No need to do anything else. You'll meet your neighbors, you'll meet cool people on the streets, you'll be okay.
THEN, you can explore the different camps, talk to people, find out if it's your bag or not.
My $.02

I am really diggin all these idea's. I love the whole themed idea and the hushville idea seems right up my alley. I think the last one of the camping where ever was what I am going to do. I can't tell you how many people push themed and if I wasnt' going to do that I didn't know exactly what it would look like when I got there. Thanks so much for the detailed info.

As Dr. Suess would say if he dare...To Burning Man I go....to see the art is like watching a good show.....Only those who dare...have odd color hair and as we two are cool..... we all know at BM there's no pool... so as we get close....I will not begin to boast...that all will stare....and I will see you there!!!
