RVers get CO detector and/or Change Batteries NOW

Post by Mosin » Thu Aug 07, 2008 1:22 am

People please... another couple died at Indy 500 this year in the RV lot due to a NEIGHBOR'S exhaust fumes. If you're going in an RV or are going to be sleeping in a vehicle in close proximity to generators you MUST have a carbon monoxide detector. They are about as cheap and easy to install as a smoke detector, and, similarly, they can save your life.

A related note: don't think that just because your RV doesn't have a genny and your neighbor has rigged a neato Home Depot exhaust extension to his roof that you are safe: if you are running your vent fan your neighbor's extension makes it MORE LIKELY that fumes will be drawn in to your RV. (that is the word on the street re. the Indy 500 death). Just get one. I hate to make a morbid joke (but since I'm going to I will be vague) but going out at BM purposefully, if that is what gives you joy and comfort, if you will--is one thing. Getting killed by a generator accidentally while sleeping off a night of BM revelry would be horrific tragedy that could have been easily averted. There are enough gut-wrenching commemorations at the Temple already... be safe kids!!

I hope it's an Asahi Dry. :) In all seriousness though and with due respect for the fallen and the living, if anybody does decide to wilfully meet their maker/s please do it out at the trash fence rather than imposing your carcass/baggage on somebody else's scene.

Now go change your frekken CO battery!
