Two Burners.... One Dream... one plan.... Operation Phoenix

Post by Funky Monkey Mech » Tue Aug 05, 2008 9:48 pm

My friend Cross has a Problem....
Question?

What do you do when you have no kidneys and on dialysis. What do you do when everybody says that 2007 was your last Burn? What do you do when you have a disease where people just lose the spirit for life?

Answer:

Be a Burner and a Sidhe and make a Dialysis Unit and bring it to the Playa! Get people involved. Document what you have done and show the world. Be the Light to others. Bring their Spirit back. Make them believe again.

That is what you do.

I have been talking to other seasoned Burners. So far I only heard of one person who have done dialysis on the Playa. Apparently that person got sick. I plan to engineer from the ground up a dialysis dome called THE HEMODOME. This dome will be a 1V dome with an airlock, filters, AC, lights, and nearly air tight.

I and Joey have been brain storming. Joey is a Marine and he know where to get some good military shit to make this dome. I also have bee asking other Burners about med stuff on the Playa. People like Kamikaze.

I am currently transforming my mother shed into a workshop. I do not have a name for this workshop but I am open for suggestions. This shop will manufacture the HemoDome and be an art workshop too. I will be making dome frames too if anyone is interested after I tool up.

One tool I plan to buy is a 20 Ton Arbor Press. These things run about $250 and a must for making domes. I also plan to buy a trailer and generator. I will be needing the generator anyway if I am going to do home hemodialysis.

So here is the order of operation:

1. Stabilize.
2. Build Workshop.
3. Get Cert for Home Hemodialysis, Buy Generator
4. Build Dome and Cover
5. Build AC and Filtration System
6. Buy Trailer
7. Go to Burning Man
8. Beat The Odds

We have most of it drawn out but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated please pm me or e-mail me thanks very much and hope we can make his dream come true..... :)

Any relatively modern RV or Trailer with AC, distilled water and the home dialysis equipment is all you need.

Having your fluids pumped in, pumped out, washed and drained is exhausting business so the odds of Cross having a good time on the Playa on the days he does dialysis are low.

The days in between he should be fine.

You guys should also hook up with Skid from KSVRT. He on the kidney list as well.

Yeah the one person he talked to said they did it in an RV and got really sick so we are trying to make a more dust free maybe cleaner environment then an RV.

Right now the dome is not ready.... we will be trying to have him back to the playa by 2009... 2010 at the latest.... this is only phase one of the plan is to make it work for him.... if we can make a full proof system then we hope to show other burners that need dialysis how to build a dome and set up the same system so they can build and bring there own.... and the really long term is try and build some to donate to charities that bring medical care to 3rd world countries.... we may have big hopes and dreams..... but than again i don't know a better way to dream...

I've seen them on "GL" a website for surplus equipment........

Check on how it's done by hospitals in tough areas.
Medical grade air filters are easy to get and add to a blower.
Best thing for a house too.

Bear in mind that healthy people get sick out there.
Be careful and I hope it works out.
