2009 Virgin Burner

Post by Anibee » Wed Aug 06, 2008 10:44 pm

So I'm not attending this burn, not enough time to prepare and plans to go to a nerd convention labor day weekend are the big reasons. But I'm going to be attending next year and I am so very excited. I've been reading everything about BM and BRC that I can get my dirty little hands on. It will be the most adventurous thing I've ever done and August 2009 can't come soon enough for me.

You could still go this year!

I hope it isn't always the most adventurous thing you do.

If you can't go, the book The Man Burns Tonight has pretty accurate feel to it.
The Malcolm in the Middle episode is pretty good in a surreal way.

when you get back from the nerd convention..start planning. Buy your ticket early, and start amassing all the crap you will need to lug out there. Welcome home...300 and something days in advance!
anything worth doing is worth overdoing..

I really wish I could go this year, but alas, I would have to break plans that have already been, uh, planned and I really don't think 3 weeks is enough time to get my crap (in all senses of the word) together. Hopefully it won't always be the most adventurous thing I do, I really agree. I'll have to check out that book and I've seen the Malcom in the Middle episode, years ago, kind of wish my parents would have brought me to BM as a family vacation. Thanks for the welcome Tom, it'll be about 380 days, give or take. I have all sorts of plans (mostly diabolical), I've even started my own special little BM fund.

Anibee, unfortunately, word from the top is that this is probably the last year they will be able to use the BLM land for Burning Man. The 2009 event is going to be cancelled until they find another suitable location. If things work out they should have the event up and going in another location in 2010. We will have to see. I guess what I am trying to say is: You need to go this year!

Oh, I'm kidding by the way.

This may be your last chance to immerse yourself in playa dust. F*&k your plans, BRC calls you. You must answer.
To err is human. It takes a computer to really screw up.

I would love to make it this year, you guys are merciless peer pressure machines. I would like to cancel my current plans, but I really can't. If I did my husband would miss out on the one event he waits all year for, his BM really, and I have a lot of fun with him. I would miss out on a memorial for a close friend of mine who died earlier in the summer. And I'd miss out on seeing Jonathon Couton, my favorite musician ever. Kenny, ha, I didn't see your tiny text until I was posting this, but I had a feeling my leg was being pulled, my google-fu pulled up this thread as first result. Nice try. :P And I really want to make sure I am prepared for BM, physically and mentally. It's a whole bunch of things keeping from this years BM, all self imposed I will freely admit, just want to make sure I'm ready, for my and everyone else's sake.
