Oh, ok, I'll just wait until I can move my car without creating any dust, like say, in January.gyre wrote:The rule is 5 mph or less if you're creating dust.Teo del Fuego wrote:Oh fuck yeah! Pedestrians probably do know if you're going too fast.

I know it's frustrating, but that's the deal out there.
I've driven out there late in the week and it often means going slower than walking speed in congested areas.
I think it has to do with the type and width of the tires.
On a bike with knobby tires I was stirring up dust at any speed, big mistake.
With a smooth tire of the right width, you can go fifteen miles an hour on a bike without disturbing dust.
I think if car tires are too rough or too wide or too narrow, it makes it much worse.
Some times you just have to creep along though.
It's frustrating, but I don't disagree with it.
Kind of the price you pay for driving out there.

phrases
Most overused (and annoying): "not like it used to be"
Most underused phrase I heard: " The tities are ubiquitous man"
Next year most overused: "America - Fuck Yeah!"....and I can't wait for it!

Stolen from my camp's page of quotes:
"Having sex with you is like having sex with Pigpen."
"Where are my pants?" x3
"As long as I'm at Burning Man I might as well fuck a monkey."
"Too bad they don't have real monkeys here."
"Heaven - the great big rave in the sky."
"Does 'Sheriff' have 2 'f's in it?"
"Thank God for all the bottoms in the world."
"You need a chinese-finger cozy."
"Anybody wanna borrow my hot pant?"

We had not been on the Playa 5 minutes before someone's way of telling us to slow down -- and we were going rrrreeeaaalllyyy slow -- was, "I'm gonna slash your fucking tires if you don't slow down." My response was, "Okay, but I'm gonna run you over if you do. Welcome Home!"

Remember, dust sets the speed limit under 5 mph in some cases and yes, you do have to brake sometimes with an automatic to keep dust down.
Sounds like they knew something you didn't about the dust generated.
Some tires are much worse than others too.
Your car's idle speed and gearing has nothing to do with it.
5 mph or less to avoid creating dust, especially in crowded areas.
