What happens when I get there ;-) ...

Post by thorfio » Fri Aug 08, 2008 12:20 am

Hey folks,

Another question for a newbie here...

So, I drive up from Reno and wait in line for an hour at the greeters stations to get it in. I drive into BRC and I'm kinda of wondering what happens next? More specifically where do I set up my tent/camp etc..

I've been told by other friends who have previously attended to go to the camp for people who don't have a camp. I'm kind wondering where or what that is?

I do have a some other friends who will be stationed at other theme camps. So, I could probably pull off situating near them but I think would actually like to keep myself somewhat detached from a theme camp since I have a limited time this year (coming in late Wednesday) and I want to explore as much as possible in that time.

Can anyone give some more insight on where to camp if you don't have a camp?

Thanks,
-Matty

well...the greeters will fill you in on all of that. When you look at the map, any shaded areas are reserved for theme camps. East side of the city is normally quieter..around 5:00ish..The outer streets are quieter..but more prone to dust.....hardly worth saying that. You'll see when you get out there. Ice is at 3:00 Center camp and 9:00. If you find a spot that looks good, and isnt marked off with pink ribbon..ask around if its cool to camp there.

and..greeters arent supposed to spank anymore, but they do give out spanking vouchers.

Have fun! and Welcome home!!
anything worth doing is worth overdoing..

If you are lucky. I've waited much longer than that in the past.

First year I was there. We arrived around 3AM opening day. Couldn't see a thing. No moon, pitch black.
That year, we had an RV (Never again) and had to move it 3 times.

Eventually we found our "spot". I guess the message is, don't stress over it. Wait till it's light outside. talk to your neighbors, a veteran burner will be among them, and he/she will fill you in your immediate vicinity. Just don't set up your whole camp until you're sure it's OK and it's where you want to be, say, right next to the Thump thump thump 24 hour rave dome. I know that's MY favorite spot. Better yet, right next to a geny. Purrs you to sleep at 4AM.
Now If you decide you want to have a nice QUIET spot to camp (Can't imagine why) then only place in BRC you can be assured of that is Hushville. Unlike some other camps, there's no fee, and no work schedule, no generators and no amplified music, but you must register.

The only quiet Hushville assures is that you won' have a genny or music right up against your tent. Hushville does requirement prregsitration, and there is a secret handshake. We fill up fast, even preregistration does not guarantee you will get a spot.

Thanks for the info peeps.

I think I'll check out Hushville as I definitely on the quiet side and I actually have a friend who told me she is staying there.

I have a feeling there won't be any spots left by the time I get there but I'll go ahead and register anyway.

Thanks again! This list has been very hepful!
