Any Astrologers Around? Trying to Pick BM Wedding Date..

Post by LavaLava » Wed Aug 06, 2008 6:38 am

Hi there!
My fiance and I are planning our wedding for the playa, but we haven't been able to pick a date and time just yet. Today someone suggested consulting an astrologer to find the most auspicious time during the week. Any chance anyone here can help with that sort of thing?

:-)

Thanks!
xx

Black Rock City exists in a special time and place, playa time negates calendars and schedules, even the stars know this. Every day is auspicious at Burning Man.

That being said, I think astrology does still "count" as long as there are stars in the sky.

You should probably have your natal chart done first, or at least it will be the starting point of what an astrologer would use in order to give you a good "progressed chart," which may be what you want.

I would encourage you that if no one steps up to the plate here and can provide you with credentials that they're really good at what they do, that you consult a local astrologer. This is not a subject that deserves an amateur, IMNOHO. That being said, I've used Jeff Jawer at Tarot.com when he lived in this city many years ago, and he is absolutely excellent, in case you don't know where to go locally. (And I'm getting nada for recommending him. LOL)

I dunno, been married 21 years and we picked the date and time at random, we happened to be stopping in Vegas.

Do let us know when though, playa weddings are great.

There are two new moons during the week of this years BM. One of them is on the night of the burn. It is called a Black Moon... That is supposed to hold majikal significance. You may want to look into that... :D

http://everything2.com/title/Black%2520Moon

A Black Moon is the name given to an occurrence of the second new moon in a calendar month. Though traditional believers in Wicca do not use the Gregorian calendar system, many modern followers of this religion believe that the second dark moon (i.e., new moon) is a time of great power in the spiritual world, and any magick performed during a Black Moon is especially potent. Many astrologers equate the black moon with a person's dark side.

The chances of two new moons occurring in one month are exactly the same as two full moons occurring in a single month, which tends to be about every 2.5 to 2.8 years. However since you cannot typically see a new moon (except during a solar eclipse), a Black Moon is not usually noticed or recognized.

Waning moons are a bad time to start anything new ~ my maid of honor refused to participate in my wedding if i did it then. On that note, it'd be good to wait until after the peak of the black moon which is at 12:59 pm (1 in the afternoon) on Sat. the 30th, so it's growing again - a *very good time* to start a new venture. :-)

it would also be good to get both of your natal charts done to see how they relate to each other and to the stars that weekend.

also learned this little tidbit when i looked up 'blue moon':
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_moon wrote: A blue moon is actually a name given to an irregularly timed full moon. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but each calendar year contains those twelve full lunar cycles plus about eleven days to spare. The extra days accumulate, so that every two or three years there is an extra full moon (this happens every 2.72 years). Different definitions place the extra moon at different times - the extra moon is called a "blue moon".

Folklore gave each moon a name according to its time of year. A moon which came too early had no folk name - and was called a blue moon.
The Farmer's Almanac defined blue moon as an extra full moon that occurred in a season(which would normally have three full moons). If a season had 4 full moons, the 3rd full moon was named a blue moon.
Until 1999, the common definition of blue moon was the 2nd full moon in a calendar month (this was a misinterpretation of the Maine Farmer's Almanac in 1946 that became commonly accepted and was discovered in 1999).
interesting...

Submit to the randomness of chaos. Worked plenty well for me.
