Just a thought... kind of wish BM provided huge geodesic...
canvas domes ppl could pay more per ticket to stay in with partioned off areas or something. Just as another option.
I wish it was an option to just drive my car in, drop my belongings off, park it far away.

What you're after already does exist, in the form of large theme camps that have membership dues to fund things like big shelters that people put their stuff under.nebulachic wrote:canvas domes ppl could pay more per ticket to stay in with partioned off areas or something. Just as another option.

And it IS an option to park far away.

nebulachic-
good morning.
i want to share with you that, with all of your recent posts and especially your last few, i personally am not quite sure that you're ready for burningman. if you've read the survival guide and all these eplaya posts then you really could be ready to strike out on your own. it seems that what you're missing is the confidence to just take what you've learned and jump off the cliff.
just do it. you'll be fine.
or
save it till you're sure in your own heart and mind that you can make this happen yourself.
good luck either way and i hope you can stop "thinking" too much.
there is such a thing as too many questions.....in MY book.
no offense intended.

Another Ultimate Spectator Request.canvas domes ppl could pay more per ticket to stay in with partioned off areas or something.
BM provides you with toilets and a flat, earthen canvas to camp/make your own experience on.
Fuck providing your room and board and special needs parking.
Desert dogs drink deep.
Hey, let's face it, it's a lot to be thrown at you at once, especially if you aren't a camper.thirt33n wrote:nebulachic-

And you don't get to poke fun at anyone coming 5,000 miles if you live on the west coast.
So?
Too many questions, huh?
I'm probably in big trouble then?
Just what are too many questions?
Does it matter if they are good questions?
Does it help if they are phrased as discussion?
Or is a question still a question?
Is it a question of how the questions are phrased?
Or is it a matter of how many questions in x amount of time?
Are these enough questions?
Or do you want me to keep going?
Nearly forgot, what happened right before this universe started?
And why?
I have some questions about pre-history in Egypt too, if you have time after those.

i believe that there are some people who you need to be very direct with.
being direct and honest can sometimes be confused with being rude.
"in MY book" nebulachic, is zig zaging, waffling, and is having a hard time making up HER? "chic" or his mind on many of the core ideas of this wonderful event that we love so much.
I'm having an interesting time with the flood of new posts about all these people being so over scared of going "alone". for christ sake, these aren't 5th graders. they're supposed to be adults. it turns out that for many, the american dream has turned this place into a spoonfed bunch of courage-less morons who are to scared to figure out how to do so many of the simple things that have become automated and gone unnoticed by the rise of engineering and technology.
i would guess that nebulachic hasn't learned to change the oil in an automibile or sparkplugs, or start a fire, or dry clothes without a dryer, or tape or stitch a serious cut on an arm or GO CAMPING!
gyre, you never really ask questionable questions.
in my opinion, nebulachic is one of many recent posters who have rattled off a large handful of plain silly questions coupled with an occasional statement of, "i'm not sure i'm going to go then".
nebulachic, i'm not meaning to offend our discourage. i mean to encourage you to gather the necessary information, the really important stuff, and just do it. don't worry. if you have your water, food, small shade, ticket and transportation than anything else you need will be out there with the friends that you will meet. i include myself as one of your friends because i feel that by the time you realize you're there and it's amazing, your questions will turn into action.
these are only my opinions and you're all free to tell me to go fuck myself.
gyre-
what?
yes.
no, not in big trouble.
yes.
not if it's a over discussed topic phased as a question in a new post. it shows a certain lazyness and need for attention.
yes. a question is always a question, even if the asker cares not about the answer.
not really a phrasing issue.
yes! that is a window into someone's inability to think and solve for themselves.
yes.
no, you can go on forever, i've seen it.
nothing. everything was black. the lights were off and baby jesus was just being born.
because that's how it is, now eat your lunch.
no time. sorry.
next week.
blow.
At the risk of sounding bitter about it, Burning Man should in no way provide shelters for you to "rent" as your own. BM is about Radical SELF Reliance, not Radical Rely On BMORG to provide everything for you.
As far as being from across the country, I don't even want to hear that. People come from across the globe to get to BM and they all seem to get their camps squared away.
That being said, there are options out there for someone who wants to spend no effort. I know of at least one guy (and no I will not give you the link because I totally disagree with what he's doing) that "rents" camp sites in his/her area. He/she sets up everything you'll need for the week and cleans it all up at the end. Another person rents RVs and will bring them out to the playa for you and drive them back too (of course, this costs about $10,000).
If you really want to experience what BM is all about, do NOT pay someone to do it for you. This event is about SELF RELIANCE so be self reliant.
As far as asking too many questions, I disagree with Thirteen's assessment that there can be too many. Keep asking questions IMO.

thirt33n.... well.. you are right about my zigzagging and confidence. I had a bad personal setback that shook me up pretty badly and I'm still dealing with residual.
I am tired, but also think the inspiration from BM might help me. So it's not really a lazy or anti-self-reliance thing.... just kind of still feeling shaky and in a bit of a fog still these days.

you can do it!
take care of all the essentials and the rest will present itself.
you're right! a perfect place to regain self love and confidence. especially if you are as self reliant as possible. earn it from yourself.
all the answers are here.
you'll be camping with tens of thousands.
jump jump jump jump jump!!!
we love you and welcome home
whether it be your tent or a theme camp dome

My best friend died in a crash within a month prior to my first burn. Of course I doubted whether I should go. Talk about a change of plans, as my expectations of the experience were completely rearranged. Ultimately I decided that celebrating and appreciating life is a necessary part of grieving too. It was kind of a big risk, but ultimately I'm so glad I decided to follow through. I imagine that although the circumstances are different there are some things in common with your experience. There are spaces out there to be with your sadness for a while, and just chill out, amongst the more obvious places to celebrate. Life will blow you away sometimes. You have to be brave and claim your joyfulness even in the midst of pain. You know, not try to deny or gloss over or ignore your pain, but assert your right to balance it out. It's always going to be intimidating in various ways, you've got to be courageous and earn it. Be alive.

No dust and room service
Some burners prefer to a room at the Atlantis in Reno and get a telescope.
