Arrival question.

Bikes, trikes, personal mobility and getting to/from the event - this is the place to discuss general transportation issues.

...snark, snark, snark.... if you are already moody - perhaps sell your ticket now and stay home?

chill pill alert

do you really think it's not an issue?

Ummm - no - in fact it seems each of the last number of years I attended, urban legend spread that one or more sleeping folks were indeed victims of impersonating speed bumps by wreckless and exhausted drivers not paying attention.

Last year I watched a late arrival after sunset back his entire rig into and thru a tent village and through another car, pulled forward after hearing the screams - and then did it again. Perhaps it was not an issue to that driver....

Once I arrive at the city - I send walkers out in front and aside my rig - all of 26 feet and additional trailer to "guide me" as I make my way to our desired spot. Taking such action means there is little to no chance that I am driving above the posted speed limit of 5 MPH within the city, will not hit anything or more importantly - anyone - and it makes me happy for twenty minutes to be alone - everybody else out and walking - because this causes them without their knowledge - to become tired enough to sleep. Walking from outer ring and 6 o'clock to F and 2:30 is good excercise.

Of course there is ussually a few idiots behind me whom are in a rush to drive thirty miles per hour kicking up dust to claim a spot ahead of me and once actually was passed on a spoke-street. The driver was in such a rush to get around me AT BRC that he almost missed a ranger's camp spot. I have to think that the ranger waving his arms franticly, yelling and shining a bright light into the oncoming driver's eyes might have had something to do with preventing a catastrophy. It would really suck to arrive at BRC, get minamally settled, sleep for thirty minutes only to wake in a hospital suffering internal injuries from being run over.

It only happened once, back in 96. Of course there were no streets, therefore no easy way to determine where someone might be sleeping. That's why there are streets now.

Ask one of the regulars why I didn't go last year.

OK then I will tell you.
She was hit by a train...Amputations and Internal injuries. death=lost her husband the year before to a drunk driver while he was putting out flares at an accident.

So she has something to ...snark, snark, snark.... about.

Now you are aware of it.
