Having no luck contacting Vibelights.com for my EL wire :(

Post by TD-2441 » Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:16 am

I ordered a greaet EL wire setup from vibelights.com on 4th August and I've not heard ANYTHING from them re: the despatch of my order. I put down the wrong postcode and I'm scared it will be sent all the way back to America if they think they cna't deliver it. I fly to Reno next Friday and they are NOT answering my emails asking about my order :( I realise they may be busy on the run up to BM, I just wondered if anyone else that's ordered EL wire stuff from them is having the same prob as me???

gutted cos it was gonna be a really good setup :(

Vibelights

I placed my order for a few bike kits on July 21st. Last week I e-mailed and called and received no replies. As I was calling my credit card company to cancel the charge on August 11th, I received an e-mail from USPS that it shipped and I received it August 12th.
It sounds like your package is going international...if your order takes as long as mine to ship and it has to go overseas, you'll definitely be out of luck.
Although I'm happy with my product, I will certainly never order from Vibelights again. BM should no longer list them in the JRS as well.
Even if they did ship quickly though, ordering your EL wire from a US shop to be sent internationally on Aug. 4th when you're leaving less than three weeks later was a pretty dangerous move.

Good luck...I hope it works out for you. Consider finding a new source and canceling your Vibelights order though, in case it doesn't.

I read a LOT of complaints about them online and went with worldaglow.com instead. My order arrived in days.

What a drag!

For future reference, I've had lots of good luck with thatscoolwire.com.

Good luck on your order.

Well usually stuff from the states comes within 7 days so I thought I'd ordered in time. It's just the TOTAL lack of response to my emails that's pissing me off :( Wish I knew they had a bad rep, not sure how to cancel the order now - just checked and it seems no money has been taken just yet, so I'll email to cancel it.

NOT impressed with customer service in general nowadays. I've had a 1.5 year fight with British Gas that resulted in only £15 compensation, I ordered a sonic cat scarer that has been a month delayed due to stock problems, the Vieblight order has gone tits up, I've just had to chase my digital TV provider cos their charges rocketed with no explanation, I bouth £700 worth of tiles for my new bathroom yesterday and the woman who took the money was SOOOO not bothered I nearly grabbed my card and said "I'll spend my money elsewhere if you CBA to even smile you miserable cowbag". ARGH!

How terrible! :(
Try coolneon.com - it might be too late, but it's worth a shot. They have really great customer service.

I should try to find somewhere in the UK but knowing Ripoff Britain it'll cost about £500 ;)

Yeah, I ordered from coolneon and had my order in a matter of days. Then again, I am only like 50 miles from their store...

I'm a bit further away than that, and I still got all my neon within days. Plus, they even called me to ask questions about what I was trying to accomplish, which was GREAT because it turned out I had ordered the wrong driver.

I also have an order stuck in limbo with vibelights.com. I read this thread, and now I'm even more paranoid then I already was about not getting my inverter in time. I went to thatscoolwire.com this morning, called the customer service number (which was answered immediately by a human), and was told if I ordered today it would ship today so I placed my order. Sure enough, a few hours later I have shipping info.

Even more impressive, in addition to requesting priority shipping, I put a comment on the order that I needed to receive it next week. They called me to tell me the USPS mail had already gone out for the day and wanted to know if I wanted to do UPS 3 day so it would be mailed today instead of USPS priority mail which wouldn't go out until Monday. So yeah much love to thatscoolwire for taking care of my needs.

Coolneon's last work day before Burning Man is today (August 15th). So it's too late to get anything from them for this year's burn if you hadn't already ordered a while ago. But I would recommend them in the future.

Hey all,

I wanted to inform everyone that my wife's order with vibelights.com, which was placed on Aug. 3, has been canceled (by vibelights.com). It stands to reason that other orders placed around that time will likely be canceled as well.

Also, the previous poster mentioned coolneon.com last day of work was Aug. 15, but if you go to their site (www.coolneon.com) it states: "We will be CLOSED from August 22nd through September 5th. All orders placed by 4:59 PM Friday, August 22nd will be shipped before we leave for the playa. All orders placed after that will be shipped after we return from the playa."

Coolneon.com offers "will call", so if you live (or will be coming through) the Bay Area in the next week or so, and need to get some items, you can most likely get it done with them. Just be sure to choose "will call" as your shipping method. Note, the will call location is NOT a storefront, just a pickup location for will call orders. More details here: http://www.coolneon.com/directions.html

They are super nice guys, but haven't quite been dragged into the internet age all the way yet, so I wouldn't be surprised if the site wasn't completely up to date. I was out there Friday last and I got the impression that it was indeed their last work day. But I don't work there so I can't speak for them.

Try http://www.worldaglow.com/ but I know they plan to be at the burn too so might be too late there too, but I can vouch that they do great work as well and are reliable.

As a regular customer of coolneon, I am on their emailing list and was notified on Aug 1 that they will be closing on Aug 22 for BM, so you all should still be ok.
A plan is what you vary from.

Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

Toastondaplaya and Joemomma, I was going by the date that came on the paperwork with the Coolneon order I received last week. Either the paperwork or the website could be out of date. It seems more likely that it would be the hard copy that would be outdated, but it's hard to be sure... people should call or email them before ordering at this point.

vibelights mailing address

Post by fadedz » Thu Sep 18, 2008 10:17 pm

got my order and it was wrong, tried to send it back but no mailing address and phone mail box is full. I have been searching high and low for an address to send this back. I have email'd them over and over again with no response.
If anyone can get me the address so I can send this back.
I cant fight the credit card charge because I'm still in possession of the product. (which by the way failed after a few hours. I mean seriously.) I was a month and a half on vacation and my elwire failed in the first time I tested it.

please, if you have an address.
It's in Orange, ca. That's all the information I can find.

I would still challenge the charge.

Call your credit card company and dispute the charge. They will send you a form and explain everything you said. They will reverse the charge on the merchant and unless they request the defective stuff back, you will get to keep the merchandise. I'll bet you hear from them then.

:D
I bought a bunch of E.L. from Vibelights a couple of years ago, and I was disappointed with the quality.

The 100 foot string (on a car battery) is barely visible in pitch black darkness. And the transformer makes such a loud high-pitched noise that I cannot sleep with it on. What sort of $175,- equipment is that?! I've inquired about this by e-mail, even willing to purchase a better transformer, with no response.

Of the short AA-battery strings, ten percent of my first order were defective from the get-go. I mentioned this when I placed my second order -- to no avail.

And the battery holders are pathetically flimsy -- $1.99 Radio Shack stuff, to my eyes. Not "Playa grade". Not to pick on Vibelights on this point, for I have seen other brands (presumably -- similar, but slightly different) that were just as flimsy.

I suspect we are being taken advantage of by the E.L. industry. For these prices, I expected near aircraft/submarine grade hardware -- not switches that become jammed solid with dust after a few days.

But tell me I'm too demanding, and I'll accept that it may be so.
:D
