Coffee?
Coffee?
I know that we can buy coffee on the playa, but I was wondering... How much do they charge & is it any good? I'm a major coffee addict and can't decide if I should bring a battery powered coffee maker of my own.
Thanks! See you all very very soon :-D

They make battery powered coffee makers?
I know they make coffee percolators for your camp stove and coleman even makes an automatic drip for your camp stove.
The coffee in Center Camp isn't bad but it isn't great either. If you can brew your own then go for it (plus there's no line for it).

Cool! camp coffee discussion. I've tried several ways. I like my lexan french press for the quantity and flavor, but clean up is a bit of a drag. I also have a smalller press in a large insultated mug. ditto on cleanup there. It either takes a lot of water to really rinse well, and then what to do with all the soppy grounds. I don't think I've ever just waited for it to dry first. Great idea.
I just got a stovetop espresso maker. what they call moka, mokka, mukka? Stainless steel, 4 "cup" (how they call 6 oz of water a 4 cupper...) Nice and fast on my little butane stove, good coffee, and clean up is simple, just tap the grounds out in a hard little puck. Perhaps rinse when company comes. I've been playing with this for a few weeks now and am looking forward to playa test. I found on ebay a steel espresso cup set with spoons and trays, charming. The kicker was that they came in a seventies style lettered packaging "PLAYA"
I make a liquid coffee concentrate to bring camping from real coffee that steeps overnight, and then is drained through a filter. You can reconstitute with hot or cold water, or a quick pull straight for a nice boost. gaaaahaaah. It is very nice for ice coffee. Good anytime, the flavor isn't bad, depending on the quality of coffee you start with, much better than instant, and NO cleanup on site.

there's always COWBOY COFFEE
heat a bucket of water to boiling over a fire, throw in a couple handsfull of ground coffee, boil a little longer, then set in on the dirt.
wait a minute to let the grounds settle, then scoop out with your cup.

I thought I'd give this a bump. I'm starting to think of camp coffee. My stovetop espresso maker on my little butane stove is a great piece of gear. I loved using it last year. I've also used it for parking lot pot lucks at work, and when visiting friends who don't "make coffee" (what's up with that? What a treat to wake up on the sofa, and wait for a field trip to a coffee joint... really? can you call that waking up at all?) I found out my sister has a larger stovetop espresso maker that I will borrow or kidnap for Burning Man this year. I went to the orange box store today and bought a new rubber plug for my cold coffee brewer that makes very nice coffee concentrate.
Hot, or cold, always strong. I can't wait.
