placement frustration (vent)

Post by Jake » Thu Aug 14, 2008 9:43 am

I don't know about you guys but BM should really re-vamp this entire placement procedure.

Here's this years experience:

1) Contacted by two placers
2) Been told two different locations
3) Find out actual spot on which is different again on placement day
4) Good news, you can get on the grid
5) Sorry, you can't be there afterall
6) Sorry, decided you need a smaller lot (which doesn't fit half the camp)
7) Send an email somewhere hoping for early arrival passes
8) Early arrival passes never arrive (angry camp mates)
9) No response from placer on email
10) Angry camp mates who took time off from work who don't know when to go up
11)

I mean come on people, planning a theme camp takes A LOT of work, not even, making placement a little easier for all of us who actually participate us should be kinda sorta nice! It's kinda hard pulling of a big operation with crappy feedback like this.

ah............i feel better

I love how bulletted lists that go up to number 8 always wind up with a smiley face wearing shades...

We haven't received our early entry barcodes yet either. A lot of people haven't. I wouldn't stress too much about it until at least next week. After the 20th you can start panicking.

Sometimes the passes end up in the bulk mail folder. Also, some camps were still getting theirs yesterday.

maybe your placer is schitzophrentic or just got a bag of very good yeska.

Dealing with the org can be rather frustrating....but you need to consider most of the staff consists of unpaid volunteers.
