Millions of Ecstasy Hits in Australia ~ wtf?

15 or is it 50 million doses in one container in Australia, another bust of 750,00 hits....is there really that big a market for this stuff in Australia?
How is that even possible?
I would guess much more is coming in than they found in one container.
Is everyone using it all the time?
What the hell is up with Australia these days?

They call OZ the lucky country. NFW. I spent a month travelling around a big part of it. Termite mounds and gum trees and desert. They're 6 years into a bad drought. I went up the Oodnadata track and crossed the Great Simpson desert,,etc. I even saw it raining on the rock.
The biggest challenge in OZ is avoiding boredom. That's why Aussies have such a reputation for being reckless. Watch them at the Fiesta de San Fermin in Pamplona.
OZ is a "good" country but you can only take just so much desert. The hole in the ozone just makes it worse. The "ockers" in OZ have a lot in common with our long ago "okies" They're poor, sunburned, and hard-working to a fault.
Most of the country is so boring that they'll drive 150 K to places like Heartbreak Hotel just for beers with their mates. http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-en ... /tpod.html
They party til sunup and then jump in their utes and copters and go back to chasing cattle. There's a great old movie about trying to avoid boredom in OZ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rikky_and_Pete
It's a tough life in the dry parts of OZ. I guess ecstasy is one way to escape.

It has never seemed old to me.
One of my favorite flicks.
Somehow many australians have never seen it.
I love australian film, even the bad made for tv stuff.

I spent a lot of time travelling with Aussies. I'd run into them in Earl's Court or Delhi or Munchen or Pamplona. I worked with some Aussie guys here. I often had to remind them that we drive on the right. OZ may be god's own country but it's still boring in a lot of places.

Normal people are boring. Freaks are often interesting,,, sometimes dangerous. I had a good Kiwi friend. On impulse, she shot herself when some friends pased around a gun. She was born under a dark star :(

Very interesting list.
I've missed a lot of these or didn't realize they were australian.
It's missing a lot too though.
I just saw Last Wave, very weird.

Road Games should be on there, with Jamie Lee Curtis.
Australian version of Rear Window.

During filming, she and Stacy Keach saw all these fantastic dunes and couldn't understand that no one was exploring, so they wandered around and were sliding down them and so on.
When they got back, everybody had been looking for them, very worried.
As they told their great story, this crowd of tough australians is turning paler and paler.
Turns out some of the most poisonous things on earth are scurrying around those dunes and no one goes near!

Very hard to remember that it's really a tropical pacific island.
I think perhaps that isolation from much of the world drives that urge to travel.
