costume making question

With just under 140 hours left until I hit the 447, this seems like a good time to drop everything I'm doing and start making costumes.

But I am no seamstress (seamster?), so my methods must be quick and simple. My plan is to take pieces of exciting fabric and use fabric glue to stick them on hacked-up ordinary clothes--watch as a pompous piece of "business casual" becomes a fluorescent vest!

My question: What kind of fabric glue holds up under heat and dust, and is flexible enough to bend when I bend?
