Driving from Seattle

Post by Squerk » Fri Aug 22, 2008 9:56 am

I've searched but can't find a threat addressing my specific question again. Has anyone else followed the Pacific Northwest directions listed on the main BM website? If so, what are your thoughts?

I want to say a month or so ago I read a post about th route which skips Reno wasn't all that great. I might be remembering this wrong. It looks like adding Reno would add several unneeded hours to the travel time.

Trying to plan route, thanks for any advice!

Ya'll are beautiful and wonderful! Smooches!

Thanks for the info. Ya'll rock with the generosity. Say hi to the burners who are camping at your place for me! Who knows, I might know them if the are from Seattle.

I took route #3 from this page:
http://www.gwally.com/directions/

Last year, I obsessively mapped it all out on Google and printed fancy directions. This year I just started driving and it was easier. There's not a whole lot of different highways to confuse you - just take the highways listed in order - I-5, I-205, US-26, US-97, etc. Take I-5 until you see 205, then take 205 until you hit 26, then 26 until you hit 97, and so on. You're either going South or East on each road.

2 weeks ago all roads were clear and easy sailing. Carry water and fill up your gas tank often after you pull off I-5 because there's a whole lot of nothing out there. There were speed traps going into and coming out of La Pine so drive slow. Actually, stick to the speed limit the whole way to be safe.
