Sleeping in a Truck?

Post by oddy9999 » Sun Aug 24, 2008 4:39 pm

Coming to Burning Man for the first time. I was wondering what people who have done this before think about renting and sleeping in a Budget truck? It seems like it would be great shelter and easy to secure...

Any thoughts?

It's done.
If you want to sleep after dawn, shade would still help.

It's going to be cooler in the shade under the truck. Box around the sides w/ some plywood.

In Cool Hand Luke, a metal box in the sun was used for torture. Have fun!

For future generations of Burning Man, Louise and I have slept in our white commercial van on more than one occasion, and we have pulled stuff out of it during the heat of the day and found it pleasantly cool inside - however, we tape aluminum foil inside all windows so that the interior is sealed from light.

This is both at burning man and other camp stops. Commercial vans are very handy to have around. Our queen size air mattress is a tight but comfortable fit. Just be sure you don't have sharp surfaces along the sides and broke glass or screws or such on the floor.
