Excuses excuses excuses...

So I live in the Bay area and over the years I have heard some pretty inventive excuses from students and teachers to get out of school for burning man. Because burning man is the first week of school for most of the bay area... Anyhow I have a friend who is planning on going to the playa (for her first time) on Wednesday... But as we all know if your going for your first time its best to experience the playa from beginning to end. So that got us thinking of some of the best excuses to get out of the first week of school. And I figured Id ask you peoples what are some of the excuses you have used over the years... If any...

OregonRed uses "I'm going to Burning Man & will miss the first couple days of school."

Seems to work well for her.

Before I graduated I would contact all my teachers beforehand via email and let them know I simply wasn't going to be there for the first few days of class. I'd say I was writing to inform them and to hopefully get any information/assignments/etc so I could return caught up with the rest of the class.

I wasn't aware of the trip in time, so I didn't get to go, but my boyfriend missed the first week of school for BM... the school paid for the trip.
