Ahoy...Every kind of BM virgin imaginable here.

Post by Bluetality » Sat Sep 06, 2008 10:24 am

Hi! I am 24 (soon to be 25) and living in the outskirts of Albuquerque, NM.

This is my first time on the E-Playa, and '09 will be my first Burning Man. I'm really excited/nervous/freaked out/excited/excited/excited.

I don't know anyone in my community who participates in BM (although I'm sure there are heaps!) and I was curious about how I would go about finding those people, so maybe I wouldn't have to lose my BM virginity alone.

and hi, nice to internet meet everyone =).

Hello bluetality! Checking under the "Regionals" contacts, I pulled up:

New Mexico has a broad and diverse Burning Man culture that is focused in a few parts of the state. Most of the Burners here live in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos, though there are a few embers burning in other places as well. We do not currently hold Official Regional Events at this point, although there are several Burner gatherings and happenings throughout the year in various locations.

The most established community events take place at 3sidedwhole, 45 minutes NW of ABQ. While for odd political reasons, 3sidedwhole has chosen not to hold official Regional events anymore, we DO abide by the 10 principles of Burning Man, and there are several interactive community gatherings planned throughout the year. A $65 annual membership gets you free access to all events.

The main contact person name: FractalMan
the email link is: [email protected]

Love it man. Start getting ready ("Now?") Yes. N O W :D See ya in the dust...

Ahhh, thank you so much for the welcome, and the info!!!!

I'm out of my head with excitement. I've been aware of BM for years, and have been wanting to go, but this upcoming year just felt like the right time for me. I'm big on trusting myself, and my gut instincts, so I figure if the belly says it's time, then it's time.

I am already getting ready. I'm starting with lists. So many lists, haha. I'm list kind of a girl. I'm going out of my mind trying to think up the common sense stuff that may not have been listed in the super helpful survival guide, and some threads others have posted. I have a year to figure it out, but man time flies.

Thanks again! :D

2008 was my first Burning Man.... and I am so in love!! I went with my best friend and her bf. I decided to wander around alone one day and had the best time. I did look the full spectator that day, snapping pictures everychance I could! But I came across some sweet people who gave me cookies, drinks, and a new blingie necklace. I can't think of a time where I smiled soooo much in one afternoon. The people, art, atmosphere, and yes... the dust were all things I fell in love with.

I am already looking forward to next year. I am hoping to find a way to become more of a participate, possibly joining a theme camp. I met some incredible AZBurners out there (Yardz, Albie) and can't wait to jump into any project.

Thanks to all that were there for making it truly feel like my new "home".

xo, tiffany

I can only hope it'll be the same for me, and more! I'm glad you had a grand time =).

my wife and i are planning our first trip to BM for 09, we are excited and are dreading the 1700mile trip from central texas in our 72 vw bus. we are planning to boondock one night in Albuquerque and hoping to perhaps link up with some burners to convoy to BRC via las vegas... this may be practical for me, but other folks may be annoyed with my top speed of 65mph
