I have been working in Alaska this last year off and on as well as other sites.

In Alaska - Sarah can do no wrong, she is an incredible speaker, and has no problem speaking her mind. As far as brevity, and smarts goes she is top notch.

My problem is thus, she has even less experience than Obama. .
How in the world can you think that Obama has more experience than Palin? did you consider my post above? Obama has net negative experience.

He is a one term US Senator I will give him a plus for that

Obama was a black power, community organizer so I give him 3 minuse points for that experience. So Obama's experiences are about the last that I want to see on a resume for President of the USA.

Net Obama gets minus 2 experience points.

Palin gets plus points the amount is debatable.

Obama was and is a racist as evidenced by his own words. , He apparently has no respect for the race that raised him , read his sorry self promoting books. If anyone reading this thinks that is racist that may be because you are white guilt liberals and you have been taught (BRAINWASHED) to think that way for the last 30 years by the actual racists.

Liberal translates as embracing democracy.
No wonder the republican party tries to denigrate the word.

I"m not sure I totally agree here......Although, by definition, your quote is accurate, IMHO, the left wing in the U.S. tends to want more laws, taxes, wealth re-distribution, regulation, etc, etc......

I've always taken the simple definitions as:
Liberal: wanting change
Conservative: status quo

The funny thing is, it seems those have been reversed in the last 50 or so years. IMHO
I realize this is an extremely moot statement, but, for me, it generally applies.

And, I'm frankly embarrassed by both parties......they both are trying to play to the middle, and, taking no real stands at all........
I'm so far right, I'm more of a technical anarchist. Wanting barest gov. etc.........

But,
we have no one to blame but ourselves, regardless of which side of the fence we're on.

for the most part, 10% of eligible voters make the decision every election.......I think the total turnout of eligible voters is under 40%, and, most of those for each party blindly vote the party line.
Thus, leaving the very low number of "middle of the road, undecided" voters to make the choice.

We've become a nation of "sheeple", with, very few exceptions, having no compass, direction, or stated intent.
As long as the cable tv works, McDonalds has a 99 cent menu and we can afford to drive places, we really don't care or take note of national, let alone world events.

As an aside:
Much of what I've enjoyed and appreciated since finding this board, is, folks have real opinions, and express them. Many are rude in responding, shallow thinking at times, but, at least there is discourse.......and, I think much of the rudeness is just for fun......I'm sure face to face, it'd be a much more civil discussion.
If we realize most of the conflict in politics isn't so much the end result, but, the mechanism of getting there.......

I would dis-agree with the last part there:
I don't think McCain/Palin would follow the "W" script at all......call them what you want, but, I don't think they're stupid.
With the public reaction to "W" and his policies, I think they'd take the right wing road, but, not in his lane........

I agree with the erosion of civil rights that has occurred and, I also reject all the PC crap that goes along with that avenue of politics........
If you're going to paint candidates with a wide brush, paint them both the same........hold them to the same standards, realize they are both flawed and no one we'd want to be friends with, and, argue policy, not who owns how many houses or what sort of under the table games they played to get them........

Obama and Clinton (Bill) are the same party, too, and, I'd hardly say they walk in lock-step, personally or professionally.......

The party thing, mostly, IMHO, just says if they lean left or right.......each individual candidate is allowed to sink to the lowest level achievable.......

And,
I think the White House, in general, has little power except for the "bully pulpit"........Again, I think much of the countries problems and blame for same, lies with congress.......and, with congress as it is, unless a party has a 2/3 majority, they can't do much of anything, anyway.......filibuster, etc, etc........

I would agree, being a POW does not uniquely qualify a person to be president.......but, it sure must've been hell to go through.......I don't take away from his suffering, and service to country that brought that on.......

I would dis-agree with using that to somehow gain recognition.......also, if he listens to his 'handlers', he may be going along with it grudgingly........I'm glad to see he's stopped.

Of the 70 some years I have been kicking around.. The Clinton years were the best this nation has had.

No, I don't care if he got blow job or not.. That story broke to save his old lady from Ken Starr..
Star was on her and closing in.. Even with his snow white rep.. They figured (and were correct) he was a crouch sniffer.. He could not, not look to see what was going on in someone elses pants.. The best crouch sniffers aka the media did the rest..

The word Liberal may mean what you stated to you but it does not mean that to me. It is like any other word, it has evolved over time and means different things to different people.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism

If your stated definition were correct I would call myself a liberal too. The Republican party did not change the meaning of the word, people did. It is probably true that the liberal word has been turned into a dirty word to some extent by certain talking heads who tend to agree with republican party platforms issues. The Repugnacan or Dumbocrat parties are not life's unto their own but evolve over time like just like words do. My definition of liberal is PARTLY that a liberal wants to spend my money while keeping his own. When I think of Liberal, Teddy's (fat cat) Kennedys face appears in my mind and helps provide my definition.

Kennedy fits my definition perfectly. He is from old money protected by trusts whatever not to mention all the perks and money that comes from being a US Senator. People at this level don't mind redistributing the working people's money providing whatever needed (such as cigarettes and flat screen TV's) to the folks that are too lazy to work. As far as many of these liberals go that is just fine they get more votes because they have made more people depend on government for their welfare. The fat cat liberals like Kennedy create a noble class in the United States like in many other countries. I don't want that, I want people to have a chance to succeed and get as rich or richer that Kennedy who only inherited his position in life.

First of all, I see Kennedy Liberal picture and I don't like him because I feel that he got away with manslaughter because he was the most powerful democrat in a democrat state.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chappaquiddick_incident

Kennedy stands for many things I don't want.

Liberal:

1. Big Government, tax, tax, tax spend, spend, spend to provide redistribution of wealth and all else that might get more votes for the party. Bush admin has been no better in this regard spending money like my definition of a liberal
Big Government who is to protect us from all forms of evil including our self's. Telling us so many things including where we can walk in the national forest.
2. Big unions, special interest groups (one reason why the Detroit automakers are screwed at least in Detroit), I don't believe that public employee unions should be allowed Dems encourage them as they are more people feeding at the trough.
3. Attorney self interest groups
4. Racism and Racial favoritism: Give away programs to favored racial groups designed to keep them in the fold (hold onto power at all cost). We have all been taught about racism by the black power groups until many people feel white guilt about black oppression by their ancestors.
Yet Black Racism is overlooked as evidenced by the fact that 90 to 95% of blacks voted for Obama vs Hillary when the Clintons had been the Blacks best friends before

Why Obama's "Community Organizer" Days Are a Joke
By Michelle Malkin

What deserves derision is "community organizing" that relies on a community of homeless people and ex-cons to organize for the purpose of registering dead people to vote, shaking down corporations and using the race card as a bludgeon.

And to think:
as originally set up, we'd be 50 independent nation/states with very minimal federal oversight/interference.
Each state could handle it's specific issues locally, where, it's much more efficient.
We'd not so much care about presidential politics, since, most things that actually directly effect us would be being handled by someone we might even know, or, know a friend of theirs........
and, the 10 amendment would still be valid..........

Voting record shows us that McCain, despite his rhetoric, is pretty much in lockstep with Bush's policies. I believe it is up around 90% in terms of where his votes landed on policies.

One other area of interest highlighted by the Daily Show was the overlapping nature of McCain's speech last week and Bush's speech from 2000. Verbatim in some areas.

Outside of everything else out there, I find it absolutely appalling that a fake news show on a comedy network is the only mainstream source for highlighting the absolute hypocrisy and double talking lies that have been on display by politicos, pundits and the mainstream, "serious" media.

And on Obama vs Bill, despite his rhetoric, I believe Obama is much, very much, further to the left than Bill.

Party affiliation is pretty much meaningless these days. Case in point, Pelosi pledged to take on all that is Bush when elected to Speaker and did nothing despite having the absolute power to kill any piece of legislation she chose to.

They are all pretty much whores for the corporate buck and have long since abandoned any notion of working for the people of America.
I would agree, being a POW does not uniquely qualify a person to be president.......but, it sure must've been hell to go through.......I don't take away from his suffering, and service to country that brought that on.......
I have absolutely no doubts as to it being an unimaginable ordeal. And for that very reason, and based on critique by psychologists of similar situations, it places his mental capabilities into question for assuming the role of president. That type of experience is not something one simply walks off afterwords. Based on remarks made by McCain as recently as 2006, he has not come anywhere close to living at peace with what he endured.
