McCain/Palin leading Obama/Biden by ten points among likely voters in the polls right now.

They're saying the last time this kinda thing happened--a Rep way ahead in September--was with Reagan.

Interesting.

Here's the thing to remember--both sides are gonna screw you. The question is, who's gonna screw you less?

The only thing I really like is that with McCain/Palin you get some gridlock.

With Obama/Biden....

The way I figure it, the ultra-Republicans have much better liars but the ultra-Dems have much more of them.

Whatever. I'm not cynical. This is going to be an historic election either way, and even if we don't like the results, the likes of Frederick Douglass, MLK, Susan B. Anthony and Rosa Parks have much reason to rejoice. All the rest of America has to do is PARTICIPATE, and find solutions for our problems instead of marking a ballot and expecting somebody else to do it for us.

Yes Obama may have lived in Chicago. Chicago is a very big place. Obama was not rabble rousing or as he calls it organizing on Miracle Mile on Michigan avenue or in the financial district on LaSalle street. Guess again, what people he was rabble rousing with the idea of creating more black political power and getting more handouts, hint it was not the queen of England.

I contend Obamas work was counter productive. This kind of thing is just keeping people dependont on big government and not teaching them to learn to stand on their own two feet and then walk on their own.

Again, do you have a cite for that? That's what I asked for in the first place and it wasn't a cite, it just brought us back to the same place.

I completely agree with you about racism going both ways. The government is obviously the biggest perpetrator of racism against white people. My brother got caught in the whole affirmative action deal in California trying to get in the fire departments. When he was trying to get in, almost all fire departments were only hiring black firefighters. My brother doesn't care what color anyone's skin is, he's never had a problem with anyone except for their actions, he's never held anyone down, but he still felt the burden. I never give out my race on those stupid fill in the blanks (except medical), because I feel that the people with that information use it in racist ways.

That being said I also don't think any community looking to get people from that community in office is racist either. There are many communities that are mostly black and they have the right to get representation as well.

It's also obvious that you're quite young and a little weak in your American history, because racism against blacks is still prevalent and was FAR FAR worse 30-50 years ago. It is not surprising that the current generation has not forgotten how bad things were and has a tendency to trust those who've gone through the same trials. Often "black" isn't referring to the color of their skin, but to the way they were treated and the things they've been called over the years. If it's based on experiences, not purely on skin color then it has nothing to do with race; except that America singled out that race and forced those experiences on them. Parents are going to teach their kids their experiences, so we may have to wait for the next generation for Americas bad behavior to be forgiven.

Obamas not running against Palin, he's running against McCain.

But, y'know what, I can tell you EXACTLY what would have happened had this been Obamas daughter--

Hillary would have been the nominee.

If Obama's daughter turned up pregnant, the Dems would've abandoned him like rats from a sinking ship.

But I don't think you'll believe that, so...

Somebody on the right would nake a comment, the media would rise up(except FOX and the talkradio people),the first tack would be the 'families are off limits thing that we saw when they tried to make fun of Chelsea(you know, the one that Obama has already put out there?) but very quickly the cry of 'racist' would be issued, FOX would get in line with the rest of the media, if something could be tied to McCain the media would be all over it(FOX would try to break it to show how they're 'fair'), Obama wins in a landslide.

But here's the thing, Simon, if you poke around on the right side of the blogosphere, you'll find republicans decrying the teen pregnancy too--I don't think they're calling her a slut, but they don't like it.

And I gotta ask, how is Sarah Palin a slut when it's her daughter who's pregnant out of wedlock?

And here's another one, do the people who are calling her a slut use the same term for ALL out of wedlock or underage pregnancies? Or just this one?

Because it strikes me that there are a whole helluvalot of parents who don't want their daughters to get pregnant without being married or underage, who could honestly say, even if their child DID get pregnant, that they're STILL against getting pregnant without being married or while underage, y'know?

My reason for that is I feel that she can't be too much of a right wing bible
