RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) -- Saudi Arabia's top judiciary official has issued a religious decree saying it is permissible to kill the owners of satellite TV networks that broadcast immoral content.

The 79-year-old Sheik Saleh al-Lihedan said Thursday that satellite channels cause the "deviance of thousands of people."

Caaaaareful with that Current TV Burning Man coverage, Mr. Gore.

Well, if his god told him to do it, I guess that's okay. I can just see his god dictating a memo to his secretary: "Dear Sheik ala...alll...al-Liheee....Lihedan, this is your god and I must say that all these satellite channels with immoral content are really irritating me. I hereby give you permission to order the deaths of anybody who broadcasts such content. Lastly, to make things fun, I will give you full discretion to determine what is immoral or not. That is all".

That's the benefit of privatising the communications channels between rich men and God: efficiency in ordering people to their deaths. You don't want a bunch of rabble all communicating with God individually, filling up the holy airwaves with a bunch of incoherent chatter about loving everyone.
