Nick, are you asking for input or did you want to head the village lighting project up? Gonzo (resident former virgin) has been all a twitter about next year. He would like to participate in the lighting project, as this was discussed w/ Titwi at camp. Nick - let us know if you want a manager or an underling please. If it's management, and this is acceptable to you all, we would like a vote count of what would be best:
"symbolic" lighting similar to lamplighters (solar, kerosene, other)
"real" lighting that would require electricity
standardized (all the same lamps) lighting that would define the village
culturally specific lighting that would be different for each camp's theme
I'm thinking the easiest and cheapest would be symbolic lighting that was standard for the village.
Another alternative is to have each camp commit to making their camp's lighting happen and then we see what we get in 2009. One way to ensure committment is to have one person "manage" this to enforce follow through so there's no light holes.
