Questions regarding personal hot tub..
So large public pools and showers are verboten on the playa.. What about personal hot tubs? This particular tub is filtered and contains about 250 gallons. All the water I haul out there, I will haul back. I haven't spoken with the Nevada Health Dept. yet, for a list of water sources yet, but plan to. To keep the water safe, I imagine I would have to use a Bromine based chemical. Is that allowed and/or are their better alternatives? Just curious.
anything worth doing is worth overdoing..

I think "public" is the operative word here. Maybe the NDoH defines what a public pool is so you can stay outside of the need for inspection.
I don't think they could stop you from bringing and operating a private one.
I'd just buy a normal hot tub test kit and a very small amount of chemicals to treat the water with and go for it. You might even get a free sampler pack of chemicals when you pick up the test kit. A really good filter will be in order I think. Well water should be fine.
I think the ban on large showers and pools was based on the amount of damage it does to the playa. Apparently the mud bath that is such an iconic image of early burning man left a big scar on the playa that persisted for years as a sort of crater. This turned in to a real hazard for those who count on the playa being flat for driving at high speed. This and "health issues" caused the ban in my recollection.
