Hello all. I went to Burning Man in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Since then I got married, got a new job, had two kids ect and I haven't been back since. I just got the go ahead from the ol ball and chain to go back up next year in 2009. I can't wait!!!!! Its all i've been thinking about since seeing all the playa dust covered cars drive back in to Santa Cruz. I can't tell you how excited I am about going back. I've already bought a shade structure and some other random do-dads and we still have 11 months to go! I'm going to drive my wife crazing talking about it all year. She would hate it up there... thats fine, need a break from her anyway.

Burn on my brothers and sisters. This guy is going home again in 09!!!!!

And I still insist that it's possible to have one spouse attend adn the other stay home and still have a marraige the week after Labor Day. It takes work, but so does marriage in general.

If your marriage is good like mine, you go with the blessing and good wishes of your wife and come back to an even better and stronger bond. At least that is my experience and I do hope it is yours as well.

My wife too gets a bit tired of my yapping about my planning for the Burn and so I keep some of that to myself so that I don't talk her to death. I have already begun to get my stuff organized for 2009. It amazes me as to how deeply the playa and the Burn get into one's soul. So much fun!!!!!

I have to mostly agree, but I don't think it takes that much work. I think if you have a relationship that is built on the amount of trust you give, rather than the amount of rope you get, then your relationship would be fine.

My man is a perv, flat out, I love him, it's ok and we have some damn good fun with it too! We had our conversation, pre-playa about what he was expecting and what I was expecting. As long as we were clear with each other about how we express ourselves or lose ourselves in the moment, we knew we would "survive". And sure enough, we did! I, for one, came home better for our conversation and times together and apart.

It is about trust, love and knowing each other. Be true and honest and it should be ok!

My wife lets me go, and she really seems to enjoy her time alone. Ours is a trust thing too - I'm a habitual flirt, love women, but don't cross the line. She doesn't either. The playa and the whole atmosphere is just not her, but I'm an old hippie and it fits me to a tee! I friggin love it. I met so many spouses that came alone, more women actually, and they were just there to cut loose. I love my wife dearly, but it would not be the same if she were there, I couldn't be as free if she was around. If she came, it would be really different, more reserved I guess, although it might be good and she might actually loosen-up a bit. Whatever!

It can be done, a least based on what I have seen. It would be a good pole.
