Kites on the Playa?

Hello all.... Does anyone know if there will be any organized group flying kites?
I am bringing two stunt kites, have not flown them in years...and at this late stage I can't find supplies, spare parts to bring along if needed.

There is a theme camp for Kite Flying. Take a look at the list, and you should find them.

Kites in their stock form have been banned this year. Only "mutant kites" that have been mutated to the point that they are unrecognizable from the base kite they are built from will get their wings. Your kite must not look like a kite.

so yeah, we'll be at 4 and Esplanade, or thereabouts, and this year we will have more real life, professional, actual kite people in our camp. so many in fact the place will be freakin crawling with them. not only will they give you tips and pointers, and help you trick your kite out, you will probably have to run screaming away going, no, no, I can't take any more kite download! no more stories, no more demonstrations, no really, I have to go. let go of my kite you freak!

ok, maybe I'm exaggerating slightly, but this year we do have more heavy hitters than usual. people who make a life, a lifestyle, and a livelihood in kites. so stop on by DOTA, we'll be next to OBOP and we'll have the flailing zone out front again this year, should be easy to find. oh, and the kites stuck in the power lines sculpture, that's us.

we have repair experts, kite designers, and kite flyers coming out of our wazoo. so to see them, or our wazoo, come for sure for the kite fly on Thursday afternoon, when the wind is good and we feel the moment is right. ah...sweet line zip.

I ain't sayin they are going to pack in all the spare parts your kite flying heart desires, but if I know them they'll make it work somehow :)

ALL kites must have a piece of kevlar soaked with fuel attached and lit for night flying. There will also be remote control aircraft about to test the mutant kites mettle, expect your kite to be attacked from all sides.

INDEED.. finally got to catch that big air show they do at 420.. I think it was Wednesday or Thurs.. things are a blur after Tuesday for me.
