Eye-Full, based on the quilted satin jacket in a lovely light peacock blue that she's wearing.

i dont think it will detract from the glaring hot white light of stupidity that is Gov. Palin.

I'm not watching, nothing either one can say will change my mind, IMHO......
Mostly,
debates and such don't do much to change anyones mind.....they reinforce your existing opinions, again, IMHO.
Seems a waste of time........
Those that hate one, will hate (or defend) them more, those that like one, will like (or defend) them more.............

But,
it will give several people lots to argue and call names and cast aspersions about for several days......

and, I appreciate them, for that, to watch and enjoy the banter............

True. But I'm old enough to remember Dan Quayle's career going down the toilet when Lloyd Benson told him hes was "No John Kennedy." Although, if Quayle had been the 2000 Republican president, I might be happier.

Oh, Reps don't call McCain a 'maverick'--he calls himself that. And he does it because that's what the NYT called him when he was preventing reps from using the 'nuclear' option to stop judicial filibusters.

And you all need to look close at them republicans, because the nice things they're saying about McCain are coming from between gritted teeth.

I smell a Presidency very similar to Lincoln's....there is going to be a lotta hurt, a possible civil war, and in the long run, History shall declare him one of the greatest and most influential of our leaders for taking on the herculean task of shoveling the shit out of Wall St. and Washington D.C.

nobody liked Lincoln either, and in many parts of the south, they still use his likeness on toilet paper.

then again, the south LOST LOST LOST and have never really gotten past it now, have they.

I have sort of a "Palin-esque" question.
I've been struggling with this, with some friends, and, thought I'd ask here.
I'm sure the answer is individualistic, but, it's been interesting to discuss:

Which is more important:
Liberalism or Feminism?

It seems, in this election, many folks are conflicted on this.......

Plodding and inane, with high school debate style questions. Gah.

They both plodded through, doing no more than what they had to do.

And, in the end the reaction was pretty much as expected--just look at Simon's reaction and you'll see it.

Palin could have gone into that debate and shown a command of information that was encyclopedic and her detractors would not have been affected.

Or would they?

There was a focus group of independents.....half voted Kerry in the last election, half Bush. Adter the debate they thought Palin 'won'. Okay, whatever. Something more important happened. At one point the group was asked if the debate had changed their position. 4 raised their hands. One switched to Obama, three switched to McCain. In that group--weighted 50/50, this debate made McCain the winner.

Interesting, no?

But some things really stuck out. Palins 'folksy' speech pattern was seen as a minus by her detractors and as a plus to her supporters. And most of the spin came out like this. Same thing--two very different interpretations---is the split REALLY this deep? Are we at the point where we're talking past each other? Where compromise is no longer really possible?

And are we at this point with someone like McCain--a man who many Republicans see as a Democrat in a red sweater? A man whose actual, stated positions were praised by the NYT and derided by Rush Limbaugh--until he became the nominee.

In the end, both sides say that they 'won'. And they did. They both simply had to maintain. The only thing that puts Palin a little out front is that she wasn't expected to be able to maintain. But she did.

She'll be as plodding and dull as Biden...hooray....?

I've said this before, but it bears repeating--the majority of people in this country (probably the world) are really too stupid to be governed.

Palin did way better than I and most people expected her to do, but she did it by not bothering to answer any questions that she didn't know the answers to. She just went on and answered some other question.

The questioning style was sophomoric because that was the way the campaigns both negotiated the format. Had follow-up questioning been permitted, Palin most certainly would have revealed her total ineptness.

Jon Stewart on The Daily Show used film from a focus group of old Jewish voters somewhere in I'm guessing Florida and it was hysterical. People really don't listen to what people are saying, they are reacting to how the person makes the 'feel' as they are watching.

Personally, that 'folksy' style of Palin is a big turn-off. We've had a 'folksy' president for 8 years and look what it's gotten us.

I want an intellectual for a change. Not some hick or a grouchy old man. (I'm a grouchy old man, and we certainly don't need another one of those.) Someone that the country, and I, can be proud of. Someone that is smarter than I am--because I will be the first to admit that I don't have any of the answers to solve the current problems our country is facing. But I am damn sure I know more about it than Palin. And McCain is four more of the same.

So there is only one logical choice:

OBAMA!!! Go Team!!!

Surely you jest. I think she did a lot better than I had anticipated, but I don't think she won. I think the Biden was way more substantive in his answers. And I think he was the winner, but it wasn't the blow-out I was hoping for.

The most important thing of the whole debate was: How each described what a Vice President is.. Joe knows his place.. Palin has no idea what the job is..

Dougly, i think you touched on a very real concern.

lets just postulate that Obama gets shot, what would happen?

riots? racially motivated crimes on both sides of the color line? Martial Law?

all hell breaks loose.

and who would benefit from that?

always always always follow the money. All 700 billion +....

what a great way to cover a crime, huh....

this is all merely conjecture, and i do not want to even make a prediction, as it may come back to haunt me, but the threat is there, and more than just a possibility.

let us all, republican, democrat and otherwise pray that this does not come to pass, for we will all suffer dearly.
