Check the directories with the date of BM.
Right on! But holy crap, there's no rhyme or reason to it. You have to hunt through what, 400 pictures? Yikes.
So far, I've found one interesting one:
http://strabo.pictearth.com/missions/20 ... G_5479.JPG
I'm using the Aug 29th set, because:
- there wasn't a dust storm that day
- that was the day before the burn, so everybody who was going to be there was there
- it was my 33rd birthday

And I found the Man:

True, but I just found myself, so it was rewarding and kinda fun in a way.

Might not be far enough toward 8:00 but it shows my camp at 8:39 and Edsel.

MY HERO!!
If the frame would have been moved over about another inch we would have been off the picture. That's our two yurts about half way down on the left edge of the frame. The airplane theme camp (mile high club) is about a couple of inches to the right.
Thanks for posting this up.

maybe if any of us can id location, we can post the pic number?

I'm looking for 5:00 and Corvair.........
I'll start looking again in a while and post what I can id........

It seems consecutive numbers correspond to the direction of flight, just a few feet at a time.
I can't quite figure a pattern for left or right, though.........
It looks like they fly over the city, out over the playa, and, turn around, so, the numbers won't always increase north and south, but, only the flight direction.
I hope that makes sense, and, is right..........

Oh for the love of God!!! I have been looking at these pics for the 5:30 and Dart area and I am ready to run out into traffic! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
It's a really cool project but would it have been too much to ask that they post an overview or something so that you could go to your area prior to going insane
Not that I'm saying that insanity is a bad thing, it's just that I prefer my job or children to be the root cause of it

Just imagine what the person who is pasting all these pictures together to make the big one is going through.
Maybe they ran in to traffic and that is why there is no commercially available image.

Very cool - great photos!
It would be handy to add these to the Flickr group devoted to aerial photos I started (URL here:
BRC from the sky). I like using Flickr because you can notes to it, but maybe we can't upload them to Flickr because of copyright issues. Toolmaker, are you with this company?

No.. just good at hunting things on the internet
It is my understanding that there will be a picture "stitched" together and be available on pict'earth. I have also heard that there will be an actual satellite pic from google.

YGMIR! You freaking Rock!! You nailed it right the F on! I bow to your superior wisdom
I sat here at work looking at these things till I was going cuckoo for cocoa puffs. This shot must have been in a diff. folder as the one I was looking in went from 5400 - 6169. I don't want to tell you how many of those I looked through
Thanks

Hey everyone, we've been MIA for a few weeks... real life does that *arggg*
Thanks to the starter of this thread! The pictures from the last 3 days are the best, and just jump every 20 pictures or so to find your spot. It looks like the pictures were taken during the morning, so if you are trying to get your bearings by looking at a picture, 1) the shadows are pointing towards 9:00-ish, and 2) the plane wheel is forward motion. Pointed that out because the camera could have been in front of the wheel and give you the wrong sense of direction...
We were at 8:45 and Dart so that one link took us right there, next to 'Tennis Camp'
So who's going to San Fran Decom this weekend?
