Ready for 2009!
Hello all! I first found out about Burning Man in January 2007. I forget exactly how but I decided to Google it since I had heard its name dropped many times, and stayed up really late poring over burningman.com. I haven't stopped thinking about it since then! It hasn't been possible to attend just yet, but next year is a GO! This is my graduation present to myself, I'm graduating in December with a BFA in Fine Arts with minors in graphic design, advertising and psychology.
I also randomly started spinning poi so I am always working on that and trying to learn new moves! The 5-beat weave and behind-the-back weave are really tough ones to learn.
Anyway! I am on the burning_man livejournal comm as iridescentcold and I can't wait to see you all soon!!!

sorry, it's a star trek thing with me......
it's Ra na. Like Lana, but with an R.
happens all the time...
I was on Star Trek?
RaYna was the androids name Kirk falls in love with, the only time he truly falls in love on the show, and, Spock has to erase the memory from his mind to save his sanity............
Ok, I'm a Star Trek geek.....I admit it........must be eclectic you know........
welcome, nonetheless......

I think I do remember that one, with the time circle thing that takes Kirk to Nazi Germany? I had forgotten her name.

nope, that was Edith Keeler......."the guardian of forever" episode......
Rayna was in "requiem for Methuselah"......."Flint", her 'creator' makes her as his eternal, beautiful "mate", but, she falls for Kirk, and, becomes "human" in spirit, in the process. this "kills" her......Kirk is devastated, to the point of being almost catatonic......
Spock takes away Kirks ability to "love", to save him.
He's almost in love with Edith Keeler, but, as soon as he's back, it's obvious he's over her death.....
Also,
Miramani (can't remember the episode name), the indian gal.......
again, he's ok soon after he death and his return to the Enterprise....
Of course, throughout the show, he "loves" many women, alien and human........
"no, I am not obsessed with Star Trek".........stop giggling........grin.....

yes, that is the episode. "Requiem for Methuselah" Rayna, McCoy's "I just wish he could forget her" and, Spocks "Forget"......
comes back up in "The Wrath of Kahn".......
the Miramani episode is different, I think the name is "Paradise" something or other....
as well as "The Guardian of forever", Edith Keeler, in the U.S. pre WWII where she possibly allows the Germans to finish the heavy water experiments, and, Kirk has to stop McCoy from saving her from getting run over by a truck.......

yes, I think you[re right, Return to Paradise.
Kirk was transported into a Nazi type planet at one point, where a predecessor Gill, had used the model to save their society.
By the way, I'm only referring to the original Star Trek, I've not been able, really, to get into any of the spinoffs.......
I'm trying to remember a 'dual earth' episode.........

That's the one I was thinking of, though the gangster episode comes to mind too.
Earth episodes were a cost saving approach for sets.
I always felt that the Teri Garr episode was planned for some future stories.
I wonder if any books expanded on that?
Tomorrow Is Yesterday by D.C. Fontana.
Did you see the cartoons?
They were based on the books and had some very advanced plots even though they were made for children.
The holodeck and other things came from those books.
I met Roddenberry and talked for some time with him.
I always wished I could have spent more time with him.
To be a visionary and write for television is a very tough thing to do.

The Terri Gar one, I can't remember the name, but "Mr. Sevin" was the main guy.
I agree with you about that.
I don't remember the cartoons.

Isn't that hte one where McCoy falls in love with that priestess who runs things and the powerful people live in a city underground, but the whole thing is artificially built by their ancestors, and they don't realize it?
And then there's the bloody garden of eden motif.

One of many. My sister and I used to have jokes about it. Another one is the one with the natives who feed a dragon statue thing and eventually the enterprise kills the statue. Another is the one with the spores that make Spock fall in love.ygmir wrote:you mean the garden of Eden where the hippy group go, I think, Dr. Severin is the leader? and, the apple is poison?........
It sort of goes on and on.
