In fact a vacuum cleaner is a great item that I DO bring! It's a Rainbow vacuum that filters through a bowl of water. I use it for an air filter to clear out playa dust.
Vacuums work great if you have carpet covering your floor, too.

I don't want to be familiar.. I really don't think I'd look good in a thong with glitter.

I think you are confusing chandelier with candelabra. If you bring candelabra I would recommend fake LED candles because of the wind.

Visiting Glitter camp was FUN!! thong, or not..

And the Kantina at Apokiliptika had a nice chandelier brought by SKDJAMman, hung from the apex of the dome with much celebration and festivities

No but the chandelier i was picturing has hanging glass things and is falling down from the wind.

Hmmm, I guess it would take care of all the moop. And! After fusing the playa floor into glass, future burns could have a bigger, better Black Rock City Roller Disco :D

We were going to bring our swarovski crystal chandelier, but we ran out of room. Perhaps next year ... wire it with solar LEDs and hang it from the top of the shade structure with the solar panel up top. Scored it at Lowe's, $22 on the clearance rack.

When everyone drives in, they bring in quite a few bugs with them.
But from camping in Black Rock on different occasions, I've seen moths, a few small green bugs and those weird Scorpion/spider things.
There ARE things living there; they are just hard to find.

Salvia. I brought a bunch but basically forgot about it the entire week...for me salvia on the playa would be like salvia in my living room... a tad dustier perhaps. Like, why waste time? Salvia and Burning Man are redundant. :!:
I'd like to start a list of things one should never bring to Burning Man, aside from the obligatory joke "your spouse". Ha ha, yes, very funny, don't bring your spouse. But other than that, what things have you found completely unecessary or even dangerous to bring to the playa?

Here's what I have, so far.

- heavy jacket (I brought one in case the nights were really cold, but I found a long sleeved shirt and/or a light sweater was plenty to keep me warm)
- bug spray (seems obvious, but I met Burners this year who brought some, not realizing there was nothing alive for several miles)
- watermelon (everybody brings one, once..... and only once)
- food that makes a lot of graywater (pasta is tasty and easy on the playa, but it makes buckets of graywater each time you cook it)
- a large towel (I thought it would come in handy but never did - it's best to let your face dry in the arid conditions rather than bring a bulky towel to dry it off)
- a watch (gets dust in it, and besides, who cares what time it is out there?)

Useful additions will be edited into this list as they're brought up. :)
Good idea for a thread. I disagree with lots of your list, though!

Large towel=multi-purpose tool. Drying, washing, shading, decorating, clothing.

Watermelon. Umm...chill it and serve. Place rind in net bag in sun for a day...withers to tiny bits that you then throw in the trash. What's the problem?

Watch=Umm...some of us ARE on schedules. In fact, I don't know where people got the idea that BM was schedule-less. Virtually every theme camp and event runs on a schedule out there. Those of us that work for the BM departments all must report on schedule for shifts as well. Any ol' water resistant watch will work just fine....

So when you go do you just loll around, eating non-tasty food waiting for something fun to happen? ;-)
