agri-death-metal
AHAA HAAAA!! You're right, you're right! So many sub-genres, you know.

And think you're also correct, Fishy. Poor guy... at first I bet he thought that his "More Milk With Metal" theory just wasn't working out.

Just think of those poor cows, trying to make the devil's horns with cloven hooves.

LMAO!
O.K., so you'd think that being a dairy farmer I'd be all into the country music stuff, right?
Wrong! Some of it I think is really good, but then there's a good portion of it that I don't really care for.
Normally I don't really care for the death metal stuff though.
However! That song is far from normal and I love it!

Not much country music anymore, just bad pop with a country accent added.

There is Iris DeMent and some of the folks coming out of texas though.

Oh jeez…

I did get it. A few days ago actually. We've been wrestling (at some times literally) with the current job in the shop and I haven‘t been on eplaya lately to say Thanks!!

It’s got quite a nice tone, too. I’ve got to find a way to incorporate it into the semaphore system, with some kind of a spring loaded hammer arm thingy.

And Tiahaar!!

Judging by the shade cover, you found us on Tune-up day. That’s when Tubahurl came by and we gave the old engine a good once-over. You must have just missed us, because I don’t remember being gone for long that day.

This one is going in AMCAR Magazine, December issue (assuming the editor has not already had his fill of rust for one year).

So where does a fish interested in small rusty gears for decorative purposes only find them?

Can you give me more information? Bicycle rear wheel sprockets? Lawn tractor differential bevel gears? Do you need many, or just a few?

Putting rust on them is easy enough.

(((fishy!))))
Around here, you can find a lot in flea markets (you know, in the junky buckets you have to rummage through) and auctions at old farms... pieces and sprockets can be cheap by the bucket at an auction.

In the city? My first thought was garages. I'd try transmission repair places first, (they would have small pieces) but maybe there is one local. Or if you are serious and don't want to mess around all day, you might just want to try industrial scrap yards. They could also listed as "industrial salvage" (like if you are checking the yellow pages). You might pay a little more at an "industrial savage" yard, but you won't have to go digging as much - they organize a lot for you !

If you're looking for jewelry sized gears then broken watches are a good source or wind-up toys.

Kind'a two-dimentional like bicycle sprockets, or more three-dimentional like the gears in a car transmission? Desired diameter? Acceptable weight? How many? All the same size? Help us help you.

I'm going out to take a snap shot of some bicycle sprockets.

Gadzooks!!! Now that's something special, there. The mind reels with possibilities and questions. Like "Where could I use such a thing to make it justifiable to build one?"

Looks like a small motorcycle engine under the hood. Got any specs or further info on the thing?

It's called a cycle-car and it's being restored by a gent in the UK.
Here's what I know from the lucky bastard.

"... it's a 1909 chater lea cyclecar with a 1925 ish blackburne tomtit V- twin aircraft engine. I bought it as just a chassis with the engine in and have been trying to complete it for the last 18 months. I have been buying and collecting parts and had a lot of brass brackets waterjet cut then blacked to give them the " correct " look . The rear body is wood covered in canvas and dope and coloured with fence paint. I made the bonnet and scuttle on my friends english wheel and used a lot of rivits . It's nearly there now just the oiling system for the engine to finish."

An intermediary is sending him my E-mail addy so hopefully I will have more info forthwith! Cant you just see something like this with a Buick straight eight with stubby "WWII Spitfire" exhausts blasting down a quiet country lane? I know I can...

What a fabumuss coincidence. This is definitely FATE. And not the infamous Professor Fate, either -- although he is quite amusing also.

I was in the middle of dreaming up an excuse to ask you good folks -- the mechaniacal elite -- about Chain Gang transmissions.

Wait, let me back up one step. I’ve been brainstorming about Chain Gang transmissions for a couple of years, even laying out some rudimentary parts on my work bench, to better visualize possible designs. Then, just a couple of days ago, I googled “chain gang transmissionsâ€
