Don't know how this is exactly relavent to this thread, but for some reason my partner asked me if I noticed that blacks and asians don't really do burningman. (My partner is 1/2 asian.) I had never given it much thought, as our camp has at least one of just about any race you could mention. So I just kept remembering this in the back of my mind and started counting the black people I saw each time we left our camp. I got to about 16 the entire week--certainly no more than 20 (my count certainly wasn't scientific nor probably totally accurate, as you know how one's attention span can be on the playa. And I didn't count Asians because I was having a hard enough time remembering to count one group.

Just thought it was interesting.

Interesting to note that my first year, I never noticed; not the second year either till it was pointed out to me. Probably would have noticed if the ratio were reversed? The event was so awe inspiring, I'm not sure it would have mattered either way.

ygmir, your posts always make me smile. I counted 86 Irish men and 57 Irish women. I didn't really have an eye out for Lithuanians, but I think I saw about 128 of them, combination men and women, oh and one gay one.

Actually, I'm still waiting for DVD to start talking about all these exoneratory irregularities in the Vegas trial(see, DVD, no snark about Florida). He's clearly got some angle he wants us to hit so he can go 'a-HA!'

Nah, see, what you gotta like about DVD is that he'll sweep outta the thread because 'we're not talking about what he claims to want to talk about', and when we call him on it he'll keep swooping back in to tell us how 'he's so over it, and you're all ignorant' and never once post anything relevant to what he claimed to want to talk about in the first place--because 'he's done'

And you can keep him doing this for days without him even noticing what he's doing.
