Full Moon over Black Rock City for 2009!

Post by bigbluedoggy » Sat Oct 25, 2008 2:47 pm

The moon will be full on Friday night before the burn next year, which means brightly lit skies pretty much all week! Should be spectacular and make for some wonderful photo ops! Are we there yet??
A plan is what you vary from.

Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

I've been there for full moons and for new moons and I think I prefer the darkness. The stars really jump out and you see lots more rebar injuries.

I'm such a romantic...

I don't think anything can ever come close to 2007 and the full moon on Monday night and then the full lunar elipse. Then the infamous early burn of the man at 3AM. Those were the days I tell you!

yes, the full moon will be lovely; got there last year on the 16th and set up camp with the light of a big big moon; but I also prefer the darkness of almost no moon for the event itself. Love those stars!!
Whichever... I am just looking forward to being home again.

oh GREAT!....that means at least HALF of the women there will be PMSing all week and then i imagine the flow will start friday causing massive porta pottie issues because tampons, allowed to expand without the parameters of a narrow pipe will get to be THREE FEET IN DIAMETER or BIGGER!

they are no longer "pipe mice" at this stage, but full size, bloody "pipe piggies"...

oh shit, time to figure out how i'm going to keep 3 quarts of chocolate chip caramel nougat ice cream cold during the week.

note to self, pack plenty of brownish-red towels.

What a sad comment that we just don't remember the manifestations of cheesy sexism in the tourist industry was...

How to Spot a Werewolf

As with witches, finding a werewolf largely seems to be a matter of looking hard enough. Some of the warning signs, according to the world's myths, are:

* Red hair
* Born on the 25th of December
* Eyebrows join in the middle
* Index and middle fingers are of the same length
* Love of rare or raw meat
* Hairs on the palms of the hands
* Hair on the inside of the skin (that seems like a tough one to check!)
* Will change back to a human if you throw a piece of iron or steel over its head when in animal form.

Not as much chance to accidentally hit darkwads either. Now I have to do it on purpose.....

Though I do prefer the "billions and billions" of stars to the full moon, both make me happy. Pretty much anytime the sun is down makes me happy.

Let's argue over what's better...

I'm definitely on the side of dark moon over bright moon. We're planning on an el wire thing that thrives on darkness.

It appears the subject of the full moon raises very specific responses in everyone. Since there is nothing to be done about the fullness of the moon, I suggest we all get over it and make the most of it. I also enjoy the dark playa as it does make all of the lights really pop at night. On the other hand, it is nice to be able to see where you're going even without a flashlight or headlight, and its easier to avoid the idiot darkwads who refuse to light themselves up. I also find the desert lit by a full moon to be a particularly wondrous place, but that is, of course, just my opinion.

More importantly... how many days til I leave again?
