They get their money most of the time by wrangling taxpayer money. When they spend "their money" they are thinking of how to offset with tax money later.
For campaigns they beg it from the people--who give voluntarily(unless you're in a union--and then they spend the dues you pay to support who they want--regardless of your political views)

If you accept certain guidelines and restrictions, you can get federal matching money(a program designed to keep special interests out of elections(McCain is using this system, Obama, who said he would, is not)

It will always be true that money talks. Obama is getting more money in smaller donations from more people than any time in history. (for his campaign, that is) This could only happen because he is able to touch more people and relate to them better than any time at least in recent history--and he's black to boot.

The reason that $150,000.00 for Palin's wardrobe is such a big issue is not the amount of money--hey I like to shop at both of those stores myself; but because of the hypocrisy of it all. Wasn't she trying to present as 'a soccer mom'? just one of the common, real Americans? Please, let's get real.

Oh well, I guess that's why poor people are poor and save the lottery, always will be.

i don't know, JK ... it seems that she needed that wardrobe because she did not have it, ie, she IS a hockey mom. she can't go campaigning in hunting gear or old sweats covered in baby barf stains... it would be more genuine, perhaps, but i can't see it. they want her to look at least somewhat presidential (yes, i know, they failed in your view...!)

I would have had more respect for her and the campaign had she went shopping at TJ MAX for her wardrobe and put the balance of the money towards a tutor to at least school her as to the responsibilities of the vice president, let alone the president.

And they keep talking about Joe the Plumber--a looser, but $150,000 is about $25,000 more than Joe's house. Socker mom my ass. She's an empty headed beauty pageant runner up and she always will be. (I just had to say that.)

I do, though, wonder how the left would be talking, were McCain so far ahead on money raising?..........

I'd be suspect of the figures referring to the small donations from individuals. I think it's a fairly standard practice to have big money donated in small amount by many people, just to give that appearance, and, for easier accounting and less restriction, since, I think there are different rules applying to large and small donations........

I say this in reference to both parties........

Reality is, Obama is ahead in funds, McCain is not.
There's no need to wonder cause it's not happening nor will it ever.

Never said he didn't get large contributions too. Just said more small contributors than ever before. I think I heard that just under half of his money came from small donations, though don't quote me on that. I don't think he has done anything to hide or distort where his money is coming from though.

McCain's got limits on how he can fundraise. Obama decided to work outside that system. FAR outside. Why, quite a few of Obama's donations seem to come from people who don't have names at all.
I would have had more respect for her and the campaign had she went shopping at TJ MAX for her wardrobe...
Hey, remeber when she ran into Wal-mart for some diapers? I didn't hear the kudos reverberating over the leftospher....

Nah, I lose either way. I just like pointing out how reality doesn't match fantasy. Obama said he's be taking the fed funds route. And then didn't. Breaking promises before even setting foot in the White House. Not really a biggie--it's a limitation I wouldn't accept, but it DOES go to show how his misdeeds get ignored by the faithful.

Nah, just ask Doodad Pro and JFGGJJFGGJ, two proud Obama donors. They'll tell you that Obamas' on the up-and-up. Maybe they're registered to vote in Pennsylvania, with their pal Ben Dover, a registered Obama Democrat.

All perfectly normal, nothing to see here....

I have not pinned you as left or right, and, made no assumptions.
I do disagree if I see what I feel is a mis-statement, or, if I need clarification.
I also state when I agree with you.

You do, however, seem always to make things in threads about you......
and tend to refer to yourself in quite grandiose terms......

I have nothing against any of the above, but, Just trying to make it about ideas and not someones superiority........
