Dr. Larry Finally shows his Stripes....

i'm tired of carrying all of these "lesser" burners, you know, they don't "burn" as bright, they are'nt as "Hot", and they just don't "have" it.

Absolutely great theme with plenty of food for creative and twisted minds alike. I think there may be lots of silly references to evolution equated with 'progress' but its the price to pay.

Besides, hardly anyone will pay attention to all that anyway while wandering the perimeter borked on shrooms--not that I'd know anything about that...

wedeliver wrote:Evolution does sound like a great idea that I can rock and roll with, but I ask you, YOU, what does "A Tangled Bank" mean.

I keep thinking of my checkbook registers...

Weirdly, I keep thinking of "the Evolution of the Mountain Bike"-- which would make a cool display, if someone has the bikes to do so. (Please, someone, steal this idea! It isn't likely I am going to be able to make it for 2009, either. Even if I do, the odds are even worse that I would have the resources to put together a display.)

Anyway, the reason I think of mountain bikes is I once made a comment about the evolution of mountain bikes to a co-worker who turned out to be a died in the wool Creationist (yes, the "C" was intentional), who lectured me on how that usage of "evolution" was incorrect because "evolution means random!" Since his church had told him so, he was, obviously, correct... I finally told him that, since mountain bikes developed by kids replacing parts with whatever they had, until the found something which worked/survived, evolution was, in fact the correct term!

Anyway, sorry for rambling. Maybe I forgot my meds this morning.... :)

going to see this man speak on wed......and get some ideas for 09'

maybe a Kamp Kerzweil, a study in post biological humanity.

Ray Kurzweil is a legendary futurist and inventor whose work in
artificial intelligence has dazzled technological sophisticates for more
than three decades. A pioneer in the fields of optical character
recognition (OCR), text-to-speech synthesis, speech recognition
technology and electronic keyboard instruments, Kurzweil invented the
CCD flatbed scanner, the first pocket-size print-to-speech reading
machine for the blind, the first sonically authentic electric piano, and
large-vocabulary speech-recognition software. He has launched ten
companies and sold five, and has written five books on topics ranging
from the union of human and artificial intelligence to nutrition. Mr.
Kurzweil earned a BS in Computer Science and Literature from MIT, has
received 15 honorary doctorates and has been honored by three US
presidents. He has been inducted into the Inventor's Hall of Fame and is
now gaining momentum as a cultural force with not one but two movies in
the works - a documentary about his career and ideas and an adaptation
of his recent 2005 bestseller, The Singularity Is Near: When Humans
Transcend Biology, which he is writing and co-producing. In this work,
Kurzweil deals with the fields of genetics, nanotech, robotics and the
rapidly-changing definition of "postbiological" humanity! Throughout his
career Kurzweil's insights, creativity and innovation have been a source
of inspiration for scientists, entrepreneurs and creators across many
disciplines.

i just had my new nanobots injected, and i feel GREAT!

as soon as they update the software for my bionic eye (it's running on vista, i know, wtf?) i'll be up and running on my titanium enhanced exoskeleton.

ok, it presents problems at the airport, but the TSA people arent exactly the brightest $8.50 an hr. crew, so with a couple of twenties for bribery, i usually make it thru the metal detector without a hassle.

the new Cell phone / 3G implant is working just fine, except for the annoying pop-up ads in my head, which i think if i check the preference panel behind my belly button, i should be able to take care of it.

Now, where is that bitch Sarah Conner and her meddlesome son?

Alfred Russel Wallace, Just so you know

He's what made Darwin go publish his own theory :o

I have no real opinion on the theme, since I'm a newb, but it seems like it's be a fun one to work with.
