Say hey there
I'm Alex.
I'm 19 and I go to school in Charlotte, NC. I'm hoping 2009 will be my first trip to Burning Man, though it may be difficult on a college student's budget. We'll see how it goes. :o
I think I had heard about Burning Man in various references through life, but never looked into it until that episode of Reno 911, where they tried to go and do some drug busts. (they ended up getting hopelessly lost) Deputy Jones had an amazing banana costume on and I decided it sounds like my kinda place. So I did a google search and have been reading up on it every since. Now I'm real excited about possibly being able to go.
I'm sure I'll need lots of help so here I am
See you around the eplaya.

Hello VelcroChicken
! This last year (08') was rad, and well, every other year for that matter. Read all that you can about the event, and surf the ePlaya threads if you have questions and want a personal opinion (some sarcastic, some serious, all fun

Being pre-pared and totally self reliant will be the best playa days you ever had!

Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".
Yes, WELCOME--WELCOME!
below is a cut and paste of a new post by Ginko. This is what you have to look forward to......
***************************************
This year was my first. I have to admit, on that drive through the Sierras from San Fran, I was nervous- that all our preparations wouldn't be enough, but really, that I would get all the way out to the Playa to find out that I was one of those for whom Burning Man is not. Could I hang?
What a relief to have every expectation obliterated, exceeded, transcended, incinerated. This is one of the greatest things I've ever been a part of. My fears were quickly forgotten. For renewing my hope in people, my faith in myself, my amazement at so many things, I thank you all.
*****************************************
I hope you have the same experience. Welcome Home!

A big doggylick welcome to you Alex! Have you got friends who want to go too? Getting a group together to share prep and expenses may be your best bet on a shoestring budget, especially coming across country. Just be sure everyone involved is seriously wanting to go and not just along for the ride! Keep reading here on eplaya and studying the Survival guide. If you go in with a full understanding of what is required, you can spend way more time enjoying yourself once you're there! And I love your nickname!
Woof!
Woof!
A plan is what you vary from.
Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

You're the lucky one, actually. Nobody's disecting your failed relationship and you haven't been exposed to a non-existant bug.VelcroChicken wrote:lol one welcome. depressing.
Do you know the Playa Chicken?
And you must meet Big Cock. If this goes on we can have a billion chicken march in a couple of years.

Haha, yay thank you for the welcomes
I get bored and in a research kind of mood occasionally.

Yes I've read most of it several times already.nah, sorry back up 1 step...GO READ...the survival guide is the best read you'll wanna re-read over and over again!!! Its kinda self-mandatory!
Well, I do tell people about it and try to get them interested, usually they tell me how great it looks and how'd they love to go, but it doesn't go much past that. I'm not sure anyone's willing to actually go through all the effort that would be required to make it a good time. I do agree I need to find at least one person to go along with me, however.A big doggylick welcome to you Alex! Have you got friends who want to go too? I'm not sure what we're talking about, and I'm not sure who/what the Playa Chicken is, but sounds like an interesting thing/person. Anyone/thing with chicken in the name is pretty great. Also I'd love to meet Big Cock, I'm a big fan.. wait, what are we talking about here? You're the lucky one, actually.
