Turnip, here.
Turnip, here.
And I'm trying desperately to raise money for my boyfriend and I to go see Burning Man in '09.
I live in the Chicago area, and it's juuuuust short of a 4000 mile round trip to BM.
I have no illusions of my experience. I'm about as ignorant a person can get, with only the literature of this site under my belt. I'm just hoping I will be able to grasp the concept of BM by the end of it.
Here's to hoping I get to meet you guys next September.
Down to the uninteresting stuff:
20 years old, and I have a vagina.
My boyfriend and I have been together almost 2 and a half years, and BM 2009, we'll be celebrating our 3 year.
I have a certain affinity for Nintendo, with a certain spot in my heart for the classics (Metroid, Zelda, Mario)
I'm very shy in person, so if you see me wandering around the playa, please don't mistake it as being stuck up! I hope I can get some help with coming out of my shell at BM.

God Please, don't make me make myself look like a moron...

there are so few new, unrecognized people there, you'll really be obvious......
have fun.

I'm back! LOL
Welcome to eplaya; and the guys are right, I don't have a vagina.
Actually, I changed my settings so that I don't get notified everytime someone posts. I couldn't resist clicking on the links every time a notification came into my inbox and I wasn't getting anything else done!
But anyway, this thread is about Turnip; so my suggestions to you is to check out the main burning man site as well and spend lots of time reading the survival manual. I think there are some other posts in this forum on tips for caring of your vagina on the playa as well.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

In case you haven't seen this one, here's a link to another shyster who had questions. As is typical for eplaya, there are some snarky joke recommendations. But there are also plenty of great suggestions on how to cope with being shy on the playa, as well as feedback on how it went.

I'll second Jkisha (his comment, not activity
) Read, read, read the survival guide and everything else you can get your eyes on. You can never be truly prepared - there will be surprises when you get there, but preparation (mental as well as physical/packing) helps calms the nerves a bit.
